I like it, and have found a use for it. Our local PCA club had a "Porsche show-off" event. Some nimrod asked me "is my GT3 was a real one?" I had the COA on the dash for the next event.

The COA is proof of the way your car was made by Porsche. As Porsche learned some years ago there is great value in the words, "Made in Germany". As all knowledgeable long term Porsche owners know there is great value in the words, "all original." The COA tells you- and any prospective buyer- that your car and everything listed on the COA is "all original."

Of course this may mean nothing to the guy who's just gonna drive it a few years before "upgrading" to a Ferrari, or "mod" (i.e., mess with) it, or otherwise regards it as one would any other car. But Porsche has a way of building cars able to retain value and desirability over not just years but decades when maintained in original condition. For the people who understand this, and therefore hold onto their cars, it is a very meaningful and valuable document to have.

I didn't realize the Chinese were bootlegging Porsches now and one needed a piece of paper proving authenticity? The paper is nice for the Louis Vuitton crowd I suppose.

In the good old days, they called them window stickers. They still make those right? Or a build sheet that can be generated by VIN number.

Amazing how excited people get over a free pen and box showing them how special they are for spending 100K+

Not all dealers participate in this program. Most of the time I get one, other times I don't. I think it's cool and a nice touch; not sure why anyone would complain about it. Since my new TT cab was built to my specs and picked up on Euro Delivery, it was nice to have it; I think this one I will frame up and place next to my other memories from the trip!

I still call them window stickers too - but if you care, they are technically known as a Monroney or Monroney Sticker. (Named after Senator Mike Monroney of Oklahoma who sponsored the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958. The Act requires all new cars sold in the U.S. to have one of these stickers which detsails the cars specs and options and, apparently amended to include mpg and yearly fuel cost estimates. The Monroney wasn't even affixed to my car as I picked it up as soon as it was delivered. I had to actually wait for it to be printed and handed to me as the dealership had to abide by the law. Full disclosure, I knew they were Monroneys but I had to look up the history.).

So, the CoA is sort of redundant as proof of what your car is or the options it has - at least in the U.S.

I agree that this stuff has no value. However if you owned a 1973 911 with the original window sticker, bill of sale and any other documentation that goes with the car, it would add to its' value to a collector.
Many of these cars will be around for a long time and some of this stuff would be nice if it follows the car a long time after we are all dead.

Thanks for the history lesson! Did not know that.

Never really thought of the 991 crowd having a COA, but as the fourth owner of a '77 911 Turbo, it's kinda nice to check in with Porsche and find out that yeah, my car is how it came from the factory. You never know how much, or how little, a car has changed in close to 40 years.

Who knows, in 40 years somebody might be acquiring your car and want to know how close to factory it is. I think that is cool, others only like new things and don't get it.

I think you meant to say you "couldn't care less... " If that is the case, then burn it.

I think it is a professional and nice touch. It is these small things that separates Porsche from the rest of the car companies. This is what brand loyalty is all about!

I'd rather lose the nice touches for a cheaper option list. The ticket to entry is just the beginning. Once you're in, the overpriced food and drinks add up pretty quick!! Sorry, got an amusement park and Porsche mixed up. Same concept though! Ha ha.

This forum and 6speed are fast becoming deep pools of negativity and regret. Every wrinkle and rattle is complained about like its a life threatening terminal disease. Cost is too high, this is too low, option list too much, same old horse---t every day. So these cars are not perfect, buy another brand, so the option list is too expensive, buy another brand, COA is a worthless attempt at self grandiosity, buy another brand.

I used to come to these forums for the great car information sharing and camaraderie of ownership. Damn get over it.

I have not complained once about my CAR. I like it.

Sorry I upset you so much. I didn't realize that I wasn't allowed to express my bemusement regarding the precious COA. Now that I understand this is YOUR forum, I'll only post great car information sharing and camaraderie of ownership. NOT. How about you getting a sense of humor and getting over it. Why so serious?

I did not call you out personally. Don't be so sensitive. I never said it was my forum, don't be ridiculous.

Sorry that people actually come on here for things other than trying to feel special about their car (the dealerships are for that) at least until the check clears.

Yes, I agree there should be more "camaraderie" posts! Such as...

Oh no! I need a therapist!

Paint to sample got cancelled again!

Clear or Red tail lights??

Can I leather wrap the outside of my car?

I'm on my 30th Porsche!

I can afford a 150K car, but come time to sell I can't figure out what it's worth by doing basic online research!

To Mod or not to Mod?

Hey young bucks, this is Rennlist not 6Speed! Shape up or ship out!!

How to be a Porsche purist?

I don't care what Porsche makes, I'll keep buying it !!$$$$$!!

I can't sleep waiting for my build to order to arrive!

All in good humor of course... Let's not be so serious guys. This can't always be a cheer rah rah for Porsche. I love my 991. We need to take the good with the bad though!
