Press Sport and you get the (almost) perfect car:
- throttle map change
- PSE opens up
- PSM is little bit more lenient
- in Auto higher shift points
- in Manual perfectly crips shifts up, and gorgeous blipped barks on downshift
- higher idle
- no more stupid start/stop
- no more sailing
- PASM stays standard (only stiffens up in Sport if you also manually press the PASM button)
- better cooling, engine oil runs cooler

Long story short, nearly perfect for backroad fun !

I always put it in sport mode for the last 5 minutes of every drive (assuming it's not already) just to cool it that extra 30 degrees. Or whatever amount it really is in case we couldn't be trusted with that information

I figure it has to help take the edge off of any hot spots before shutting it off.

Cool down is the new warm up I recon.

I also think that the normal mode doesn't close the throttle immediately when you lift off the accelerator pedal. It seems to do this to maintain momentum, again for fuel efficiency. I have a manual so I don't get the coasting de-clutch feature, but I suspect this "slow throttle close" is related.

I found it kind of disconcerting at first that there wasn't as much engine braking off-throttle, especially since it's inconsistent when flipping in and out of Sport.

I also think that this is one reason you don't hear the off-throttle exhaust crackles as often in normal mode.
