Who cares about a $240K TTS??? How about $200K GT3's!!
Remember my post about the $240K TTS? Well get this. MY dealer is taking what WAS a $160K GT3 and is asking $200K for it now!!!! TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND BUCKS!!!
Sheesh this makes me want to buy a Corvette. I feel SO BAD for all the guys who saved to scratch together $150K for their GT3 and now finding themselves priced out of the market.
NOW the solution is obvious!!!! DONT BUY a GT3 till you can get a 992 allocation from a REPUTABLE Dealer!!! This happened all over again in 2007 and 2008
and all those came DOWN!!! So WAIT THIS OUT till the prices come down.
Of course in MY neighborhood half are scientists BUT the OTHER half are Hedge Fund Managers and they are going to swoop in and buy all these $200k+ GT3s but the depreciation they will suffer is just the TIP at lunch to them!!

Some people were paying a similar premium (20-40k) over MSRP when the 991 GT3 was first introduced.

Bacura, I agree, I have purchased 5 911s in the past 10 years. I like Bakersfield OK but they never have any stock. So I have to go looking all over creation. I get recommendations from my friends and their dealers screw me over. If I had ONE dealer treat me just OK and I feel like I did OK I with my deals some dealer would have had me for one 911 for every two years or sooner. And that includes one Turbo and Two GT3s and a 50th. So its not like I go in a buy a stripped boxer.
And THIS is going to get UGLY when the RS's come out, a virtual blood bath of money and profit

My Porsche dealer in UK will take £10k deposit for 2015 H1 delivery of GT3 and Porsche GB says they will try to make delivery or refund deposit. Sounds like marketing ploy to maintain exclusivity by placing it on the border of availability.

Years ago, I was buying some kind of BMW from the local BMW dealer, and my salesman was also delivering a new Z8. For those who don't know, it was a limited production two seater convertible, nearly hand-built with an M5 engine and MSRP was around $130K back in 2000. I asked my guy what it sold for, and he said "25K over sticker". I asked him if they included a tube of K-Y with the markup. He was not amused. I was. I amused myself.
I understand the economics of supply and demand, but I find behavior like that just being greedy. You know darn well that if they sold it at sticker, they'd still make a very handsome profit.
Oh well. We do it to ourselves. There's always some guy or gal (usually it's a guy) who just can't wait.

Great business model.
Let your dealership network (and sole customer touch-points) do whatever they want, and provide an inconsistent interface to your company.
This is not unique to Porsche, but the company is particularly pathetic when it comes to customer service.
I find their arrogance nauseating, especially given the fact they're a mass-producing car manufacturer.
Sadly this arrogance has rubbed off on their obsolete salespeople.
$200k for a GT3? Keep it, please...

come on, people...as long as some are willing to pay over the sticker then then there will be sticker amounts that correspond accordingly. welcome to free enterprise. greed is just another variable that helps sellers establish the point of diminishing returns. you can always shop around and not give said dealers your business and the market will force them to revisit their pricing strategy.

Its all driven by the market - if they're being ridiculous, then they'll still have it in a few months and lower the price... If they sell it next week, that's what they're worth...
While I have a number of thoughts about Ferrari's sales gimmicks, this is one area they are disciplined and take care of their customers... If you get in 'the club' and can order a car, you get it at list. If you buy a 'used' car with 200miles on it, you pay 25%+ over sticker...

Well, maybe yes and maybe no. The demand for the GT3 has been artificially inflated by the problems with the 991 version. There hasn't been a GT3 (genuinely) available since the 991 came out a couple of years ago, and for many aficionados the GT3 represents a real bargain (to the extent that any Porsche is a bargain...)
The buying public hasn't been teased with an RS that was then snatched away. And, when you come right down to it, the market for the RS is pretty darned small. That is truly a speciality item, which will carry an MSRP much higher than the GT3 to begin with.
If there's a bubble in GT3 prices I don't expect it to be long-lived, and it may well have popped by the time the RS becomes available.
But hey, I've been wrong before!
