Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess... First ever 991 I sat in had the stopwatch on the dash... It was part of that love at first sight feeling I got for the 991... So I spent silly money on it and love it for that if nothing else!

Without chrono you would have to get by with only two clocks. With chrono you can have as many as four clocks.

I shift when I want to shift so don't care about anything with the automatic.

The dynamic engine mounts and recording additional info might be interesting as was the rev matching downshifts, but I couldn't stand the sight of the clock.
I thought of changing the center dash panel, to eliminate the SC clock.
However, I decided to keep it (for now).
Agreed that it looks silly and serves no useful purpose.

Put your boost gauge there.

The sport chrono was a dealer killer for me. I really dislike a giant stopwatch in the middle of the dash and love the clean look of cars without it.
You dont know how much performance you threw away because of a clock.
I know a guy who got his first Sport Chrono capable car without it. I think it was for his wife but he drove it most. He then got a Cayman with
Sport Chrono and it felt so much more ALIVE with sport chrono he had his 911 retro fitted with it and couldnt believe the difference. He was not happy with his dealership because they didnt know enough to tell him to get it on the Carrera, But boy was he happy when he got it back!!

Pressing the sport plus button the car will also pick the sport suspension setting.

AFAIK, it is no firmer than car without SC.

I asked on this forum if there was a way to remove the clock and also asked my dealer and they couldn't do it. As much as I wanted the most performance, I drive it around town more than I'm pushing it and couldn't live with the eyesore right in the center of the dash. If it was lower like the Cayman I would have considered it.

I didn't see anything about the car being faster or feeling more alive with the sport chrono. With the automatic I know it holds the gears longer and shifts faster, but with the MT I make those decisions myself based on the situation. The rev matching might have been cool to try, but not worth the tradeoff with the giant useless clock in my face ruining the interior for me

It is actually very easy to remove the clock.
Lift out the panel unplug clock and replace with non-clock panel.
My clock is removed right now for dash rattle diagnosis.
(The clock was not the cause but leaving it out until I find the cause.
2 dealer visits and dash still rattles.
3rd visit pending.)

The clock is just a clock but the Dynamic Engine Mounts and other programming are functional components of the Sport Chrono Package.
Perhaps the dealer can program your car for SC.
Someone posted about having SC retrofit.
It would probably help if you borrowed a clock, so they don't insist on selling a clock to you.

So much negative on a little thing on the dash, for those that take their car to the track could definitely use this little clock/timer on the dash to check for best times....or whatever other purpose. I do glance over now and then to check what time it is when i drive here and there instead of looking down at the dash board or at my wrist. Not much use but doesn't hurt to have either imo.
