This link was posted today on Jalopnik of some camo'd 991 prototypes and a 981 Boxster with some new design elements. Check out the exhaust on the targa. Also looks like the 918 style steering wheel will show up across the line.

I don't care about the targa part. I just want a little more, well maybe about 40 more, hp light weight with a fat *** and a manual transmission. If they give me this I'll probably sign up!

AHahahaha, this response to the video on Jalopnik:
"AntiheroTravis Okulski
My theory? They drove all around California, but failed to achieve their objective of having even a single spy photo taken. So they Foursquare-stalked a bunch of Porsche fans @ Santana Row in SJ and @ the Embarcadero in SF., but even die hards didn't notice or didn't care about the subtle changes. In Palo Alto, though, an Asian male excitedly snapped a photo of all the cars together. The German engineers were overwhelmed with glee until they discovered the photo was only posted on Yelp to support his 5-Star review to Tamarine. After three days of driving around BH, they finally resorted to paying SUBARUWRXFAN $55/hr to record and upload the videos. WRXFAN netted 2,300 additional youtube subscribers $190—$10 for the time it took to take the videos and $180 for the time it took to sign the 288 page NDA (written in German).
Next time Porsche wants anyone to notice: make some significant changes OR just wrap it in camouflage so that people actually notice. And please: next time make sure the best exhaust note in the video doesn't come from a GTI.
I'd write more, but I have to call my contact in Germany to cancel my 918 order. Can't stand the thought of it sharing the steering wheel with anything other than 918s."
Love the 918 steering wheel btw (wonder if it will only replace the multifunction or all steering wheels) and the center exhaust pipes.

I worked for BMW & Mercedes many years ago. The Germans favorite time of the year is summer when they can flee Germany from their wives and pretend they're rockstars. They beg and plead and sometimes cry in front of grown men so they can stay in so. Cal as long as they can. It's great to see them enjoy themselves in the middle of the Mohave desert with a cold Corona in their hand.
I don't care for the center exhaust unless the tips are right next to each other ala GT3.

I just finally was able to sit in the new Targa today with my daughter who fit perfectly in the back! Absolutely a gorgeous car and will be my next car. I will be doing a custom build but I just built it with options at $164K. I have some time but if I know that the GTS version will be coming out soon I will definitely be ordering a GTS Targa in black!
If anyone finds out the eta on the new GTS 991's please share an approximate date with us here!!!

I will be surprised if it even takes that long; don't care what past update schedules have been.
I'm pretty sure the only reason why the guys in the Beverly Hills video were covering the dash was because they didn't want anyone to film the 'GTS' script in the instruments.
We've seen it at the Ring, we've seen it in out and about elsewhere in Germany, we've seen it out for cold weather testing (wherever that was,) months ago. Now, it's been seen in San Fran, Socal, and probably AZ next.
The only thing left to reveal are the new LED treatment and the taillights. Not sure why Porsche would wait another year before they did that. Like I said, past update schedules be damned.

I agree with you and I am going to hold out for a little while longer as I so want the GTS Targa!!! I think we may see something at the LA Auto show in November possible with maybe a 2015 Spring release!

Don't forget that coupe GTS has not been launched yet and I expect at least a year between the launch of the two with the coupe coming in first. Meanwhile there is always the Targa Turbo which is about to be launched.

I think the only thing that has slowed them down is the GT3 issue. Which kind of leads me to believe the GTS may actually have a detuned GT3 mill. That may be wishful thinking, on my part.

Product launch is always led by sales & marketing not design & engineering. Its also commercial suicide to launch several new products in the same sales window as they end up competing against each other.

Once they launch the GTS 991 it will be for all 991's at the same time! They will not just launch the coupe first and then the Cabriolet and Targa after they will all get released at the very same time that you can count on!
