They are ventilated seats, not cooled seats. Using A/C in conjunction with ventilation is key to maximizing comfort. I find they primarily keep you dry and from sticking to the seats, which I find a major improvement in comfort, but I'm not in Atlanta.

I avoid the Midwest , South and East Coast as much as possible in summer months ...between the stifling humidity at night and the incessant, loud cicadas and other regional bugs making their zinging sound all night, I can never sleep

and turning on A/C overnight in that case...who wants the thermostatically controlled off and on feeling of humidity alternating with cold air blowing on face ?

yuchhhh...I'll take the risk of an occasional temblor any time over that

Exactly. I wonder how many people are "sold" the "cooled" seats because they think they are really cooled with the AC, not just ventilated with a fan?

As they are driven by AC cooled air being drawn in, there is a 'cool down time' after starting the engine... Don't expect them to chill your butt the minute you start the car.... But after 5 mins it's bliss.... My derrière is a happy one in hindsight P.s. Per Zohan... I believe asthmatic is the biological analogy intended

They're just DC motors, no? Couldn't you simply reverse the polarity of their power leads if you really wanted them to blow rather than suck?

They don't work like other cars that have AC cooled seating and they don't work near as well because of this. I have been in a couple of Mercedes with the cooled seats and even in the hottest of Florida weather they work really well.

+1 on turning A/C on. Makes a big difference when cooled air get drawn thru the seat.

mercedes seats are also ventilated. The germans have some issue about cooled air blowing on you that puts you to sleep or something.

The americans have no qualms about this. You want cooled seats, go sit in a newer escalade...Its like sitting on a block of ice.

Air conditioned seats?

In the authoritative book "50 Things I Learned in My High School Cafeteria That Turned Out Not to be True", they are instead called ventilated seats.

Or....check out the Owner's Manual that came with the car for details.

By the way, they also work great on a frigid day with the seat heater on, too.
