Default Sale Price Vs. MSRP

I want to collect some data before I go in to finalize my lease deal on a MY 2015 C2S.

I am curious about recent purchases of new 911's and what percent of MSRP you paid. If you could also state whether the car was on the lot or if it you ordered it that would be helpful as well.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share!!

I'd say Money2536 is spot on. Mine was 5% off ordered.

I think % off is in direct relation to how much time you want to spend haggling. I'm impatient.

12% off lot car. I financed car through my credit union. 2013 C4 pdk, pse, sport chrono, techno wheels, Bose, glass sunroof, spasm, optioned $120 msrp paid $106 bought in October 2013. Realize this car was on the lot since May and was a "leftover". My first Porsche. I now know when I order my second what to get thanks to this forum and the experience of driving with many options I wouldn't had considered.

I knew going in it wasn't my dream config being a C4 but it has been a great first porsche for me. C4S with Powerkit or Turbo next stop!

Someone else in the forum once said buying your first porsche from the lot often makes sense because unless you really have owned and driven with certain options, it's hard to know what you want and what's important to YOU. This logic has been true for me.

I bought a couple 991s... Got 9% off one (2014 C4S purchased in 2013), and 5% (2014 50th anniversary purchased in 2014) off another. Both off the lot.

Ordered C4S with European Delivery (extra cost but also extra allocation for the dealer) and got 5% just mentioning that 5-6% seems to be the going discount for custom orders. Maybe I should have pushed for more...

This is great information! I'm thinking about ordering a C2S for Stuttgart delivery and was very curious about what final price I could get.

I think time of purchase/delivery might have a bearing on amount of discount, ie showroom car in low season which I assume would be mid to late fall in states.

Many factors in how much of a discount you get, including (as mentioned) time of month, if it's in-stock or an order, what part of the country you are in, the dealership, and your negotiating skills.

I'm going to suggest that the folks who get a killer deal are not going to hesitate to share that info, and the folks who paid MSRP are just going to hang their heads in embarrassment. Nothing to be embarrassed about - my local dealer tries to sell all of their cars at sticker. Natch this does not work with me, and I'm able to wiggle out a discount (it also helps that I'm a good customer).

It seems to me, on a purely non-scientific basis, that they discount the cabs more than the coupes. It may be because they tend to sit longer on the lot, or maybe the factory pushes the dealers to order more of them, and therefore has back-end discounts. I just know that earlier this year there were a lot of new left-over 2013 cabs available, and a buddy of mine got a killer deal on his 2014 cab off the lot.

I ordered my coupe, which is the only way to go. Not for savings, because I could have done better (discount %) buying out of inventory, but because I got exactly what I wanted and nothing more, nothing less.

Another tip... Buy from a dealer in a smaller market. I'm in Chicago, but have purchased my last two Porsches over the internet from smaller town dealers (one in Iowa, and one in Tennessee). For one, the dealers are just nicer people, but they're also more willing to deal. I also find that I have more leverage when doing a deal over the internet or email - you aren't stuck in the emotional moment at the dealer's location.

Got 9% off my car in summer of 2013, it was car on the lot. The dealer was in Boston and gave me the best deal.

Agreed. And geographic region (PNW is enormously different than the southeast U.S., for example) and whether you have purchased from the dealership before are critical factors, as well. It can also depend on what salesman picks up the phone or greets you at the door. I called a dealership once and the saleswoman who picked up the phone told me they never discount from MSRP. I politely explained that that was not even close to believable and wished her a good day. I called back and asked for a specific salesman whom I found had good reviews online. He offered me the car at 10% off. A bit of a difference.
