My 2013 991C2 was in a showroom marked as "sold" to a snow-bird arriving to pick it up. The ONLY option was PDK. Upon arrival of the purchaser, the sale fell through because the trade was not "as promised" in its condition. The dealership was anxious to sell it since it was so bare and gave me 8% plus a good trade for my 1995 993 in late December 2012.

This thread is so helpful for buyers. Shouldn't it be a sticky thread that goes on the top?

they are more likely to negotiate on a lease, because they make money on the finance, etc.
Still always going to be the cheapest way for me to drive these cars, I can expense my lease payment 100% through my business and I don't have to pay sales tax on the MSRP.
Always cheaper if you own a business--I can't write off a purchase or financed car this way, therefore that's why so many business owners lease, it's WAY cheaper and I'm the type who get bored quick and always wants a new car!
I can write off my trucks for the business 100%, so I pay cash for them--sports cars, not so much

I also find that I have more leverage when doing a deal over the internet or email - you aren't stuck in the emotional moment at the dealer's location.
I agree with this tip entirely. I talked to guys in LA who were very difficult to get to budge on price, not to mention a little annoying to talk to.
I bought my car from Porsche of the Motor City and Jarett Hoffman was the nicest guy to deal with. Polite, knowledgable, and very helpful. He gave me a very fair deal

To "spinfree" - if you are in Chicago, porsche of the motor city is not far from you (Detroit)...next time ask for Jarett up there - can't say enough nice things about him!

Agreed discounts on finance or lease deals are very different from cash purchase, so perhaps worthwhile stating this alongside your discount rate.

I would agree. Based on the numbers here and from other similar threads,

4-6% is the norm
>= 7% occasionally for the right car - mostly bought out of inventory

+9% discount off the lot. Went in for a car wash and left with a new car.
