Default Anything work to prevent wear on the seat bolsters?

The 18 way seats are good, but I see signs of wear on the bolster of the drivers seat already - likely from me getting in an out. Is there anything particularly good for cleaning this without damaging the leather?

Lexol Leather Cleaner in the orange bottle. Zaino Z10 conditioner.

Watch for dye transfer from clothing (jeans) and other leather products like belts and jackets.

Use your left arm to support your body when you go in or out. Don't slide in or out with your thigh and butt. I make a point of "dropping" into the seat or "cross" out of it, without any sliding or putting weight on the bolsters.

Beyond that, you can try what LexVan said. Also Leatherique works well.

I had sport seats in my Cayman S and no appreciable wear after four years. I made a point of backing in and putting my butt in the seat first and then swinging both legs in. The reverse for getting out.

There is really not much you can do, it's just friction wear on the Finished (Painted) leather. About the only option is to install a seat cover. However, you can buy the seat panels as Porsche parts and simply replace the section (back or seat) at some point down the road. I just replaced the seat cover on my wife's Mercedes (2010) last month. The cover itself was $ 265 and it took about an hour to do.

To prevent wear? No.

It's leather, that's in regular contact with abrasive fabrics. It's going to wear. It's supposed to wear.

It's sort of why cars depreciate, I suppose. Wear and tear.

Use leather conditioner, namely LEATHER HONEY!! Really moistens up the leather and minimizes cracks and creases / folds from depression, however, nothing can prevent the deformation of the shape of the leather besides better entry / exit habits.

So, conditioner to help the creases / folds, better entry / exit habits to avoid flattening out the bolster.

You mean you can replace the leather covers of the seats? $265 seems so cheep! Maybe I'll even change up the seat color

I have seen specialists inject new life into leather, no idea how they do it.

You can however reduce wear & tear by avoiding/reducing the causes;

- changing your entry/exit (as already mentioned)
- keeping the leather conditioned (moist)
- avoid wearing abrasive pants such as jeans, wear soft fabrics.
- avoid short trips so as to minimise entry/exits per mile.

I think he means aftermarket replaceable seat covers as opposed to replacing original leather on the seat.

You don't need to spend $265. Every fabric store carries iron-on patches. $5, tops.

Get in the gym. Keep a strong core. Do some resistance weight training. Squats in particular. Build your muscles for a more controlled egress into and out of your car.

It was genuine Mercedes, has its own Part Number. Now, in my wife's Merc, it was MB-Tex, which is a high grade vinyl, however they have the leather panels available. This was an easily serviceable part, it did not require pulling the seat out of the vehicle to replace the seat cushion cover (which has ripped and had a loose seam on it). Two screws the seat slipped out, disconnect the heated seats wiring and airbag sensors and then the lower seat cushion was out - remove the old cover and install the new one (requires some grunting and power on the arms), then back in it goes.

I'm in the leather furniture business and sell over $ 1 mil a year in leather upholstery, its a specialty of my store. Leather is 4x more durable than fabric, but that doesn't mean it won't show wear. Cleaning and Conditioning will greatly help slow that, but its going to happen over time if you use the car.

Here's the Porsche cover prices in various leathers, they are more costly than the MB Tex of course, but you can get them....
