Hi - since I got my 991 it appears to have a strange problem. When I boot it, I mean really boot it from stop. I release the clutch and it only comes back up half way or been goes back down to the floor - is this normal???
This has come up before. Search it. Last guy was reversing up a hill but with the same result. With the right combination of throttle and slippage it seems the car is tricked into adjusting the clutch resulting in the short pedal travel. Restarting the car put things back in order.
That is me in the post above - see my post on "Clutch doesn't release". I took the car to the dealer, they couldn't replicate it but I still have it. Does your clutch stink afterwards?
BTW - it has nothing to do with the clutch fluid, or the clutch fluid boiling - that is just ridiculous. It is more likely due to the actual clutch plate not releasing when it is hot. Ignore all the comments from people who say "I don't do that" or "you probably don't know how to drive a manual" etc. Almost all my cars have been manuals and they tolerated using the clutch in this manner or even occasional abuse of the clutch without any issues at all. It is just plain abnormal and a performance car like a Porsche should allow you to rev the car hard and make a spirited start by feathering the power in with the clutch.

I had the same issue with my 06 Audi RS4. It turned out to be a hydraulic line that would collapse on itself and not allow fluid to flow when warm. The replacement line was insulated with some silver shielding material and the problem was fixed.
