Shouldn't you be concerned with "wind noise" if the roof was up?? When the roof is down, you'll hear "wind!"

Default More Info on Targa Wind Deflectors

Checked out the display Targa (a Launch Edition owned by Porsche of Livermore) at the Parade.

Deflectors have two stages of deployment.

A) Down & close to edge of Windshield. (Default 'Close' position). Photos 2, 3, 4 & 5.

B) Up & Further Away from Windshield. (Deployed 'Active' position). Photos 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

You get to B by touching it with your hand. It's spring loaded. When you 'hit it', it automatically springs up! You hit it again & it retracts to 'close' position!

Unless a reviewer knew this, his/her wind deflectors on the Targa were not in 'active', deployed mode!

Saludos,
Eduardo

A number of reviews have commented that you need to raise this air deflector at low speed otherwise you get thumping in the cabin. Above ~70 mph you have to lower it as the air going under the deflector makes a lot of noise - basically, you have to fiddle with it constantly, which doesn't sound like a great solution...

I know many of you guys have the coupe. When I test drove the coupe it had a tremendous amount of buffeting from a fully opened sunroof. I thought to myself that I would never be able to use the sunroof often especially over fifty or so. I can tell you with my cab there is VERY little wind intrusion and can easily talk on the phone while doing better than 55 mph and all the windows down.

I realize that I am late to this discussion but I don't find the Targa to be any noisier then the cabriolet...

I test drove a coupe, cab and targa back-to-back-to-back, on the same stretch of road. There was a little wind buffeting in the targa at speed, but really nothing to bother me at all. This was before I was even aware of a deflector. The reviews stating the buffeting is excessive are exaggerating. After test driving the three, I had no doubt in my mind I wanted a Targa. I wouldn't let that discourage you if thats what you're going for. Of course, best course of action is do your own test drive and judge for yourself.

What a beautiful car - perhaps the only thing I would change is the orange side marker to clear but them again I hate all orange markers on all cars.

Gorgeous interior/ exterior color combo, and I love the 50th edition wheels on the Targa. Looks awesome!

I have a 997.2 cab and I drove the Targa yesterday and didn't note anything undesirable, other than I don't own one.
