I am no expert so forgive the naive questions or comments. What do you mean by throw on more lock? I don't understand how giving a 911 throttle will help with understeer.
I have been encouraged by my driving coach to trail brake a lot on certain corners and I feel this is the best way to get rid of understeer and get the car pointed in the proper depiction at the beginning of a corner. From what I understand if you want the car to turn in to a corner tap the brake or at the least let off the throttle and put weight on the front of the car. If you want to plant the rear and blast out of the apex hit the gas while you unwind the wheel and put the weight on the back of the car.

I'm not trying to get a fast lap time here, but sometimes a quick harder steering input and throttle gets the back end loose and around a bit. Sometimes it actually causes the PTV to kick in more and bring in the nose a little. But only if you go for it. Adding more power gradually just causes it to push more because of the rearward weight transfer, as you said.
Again, this is the fun way on an empty road, not the proper way on a track.
Good note about the trail braking. I'm going to try it more at corner entry to see how it changes things.

I have both.
991 C2S is becoming more of a daily since I picked up the the 981 CS.
991 is PDK
CS is manual.
My CS is manual but also has x73 which I don't recommend for daily.
As some have already said, depends on whether you're planning to daily the car. If so, I'd steer towards 991. If not, Cayman.
Perfect world? Both...
BTW, I'll prob drop a 3.8 into the CS soon.

Great thread! I've been contiplating a switch. I went from a 2003 996tt to a Cayman S. Love the sound of the PSE but miss the torque kick in the pants. I do really like the handling of the 981s (and it does look very nice with the 991 turbo led side lights ).
Unfortunately have not yet driven a 991s. I've noticed a lot of 2012.5 cars coming up reasonably - but wondering about the bath I'll take on the 981s.
