Does safety factor in?
According to Porsche "the convertible does not have the same resilience as a coupe"

Just completed an 1800 mile round trip tour (staying off interstate until the very last leg home) of Washington state, Idaho, and Montana. (Had to get back to make game 1 of Mariners vs Red Sox and it was a great game to attend!!) .. The versatility of the top up and down was honestly amazing. Car is insulated so well with it up and wind buffering nearly nil with it down at speed, just the best cab I've ever hoped to be able to drive. A dream come true. Way to go, Porsche! There's a poster in my garage with nearly that same view, from years ago so its no 991, but in all that time those beautiful arcs have hardly changed. Biggest difference is the same shapes have been perfected, mostly by removing things like the roofline gutters.
Nicoli is right, the 991 Cab is as good a cab as anyone could wish for. You better be wishing for a cab, however. As a car it breaks up all those beautiful lines Mauer spent so much time perfecting.

Sitting on the fence... But i really do see two sides to this.
My 991 is my first 911 and my first P-car. I felt (and still feel) privileged to be able to own and enjoy such a beautiful icon and wanted the purest external design i could configure (my subjective interpretation of the 911)... no convertible, no sunroof, no ducktail, yes C4S big hips. But i am the first to admit i like convertibles, spoilers and airy cabins...
If I'm fortunate enough to get a second 911 my approach will be very different ... Bright colour, aero kit or similar, convertible or targa etc. I wouldn't change my first / current configuration for the world because it delivers everything i hoped for in my first experience, but i can see the attraction of all those other features once I've got the design 'simplicity' of the coupe out of my system... But of course i will stick with PDK because I'm a nerd
By the way Nicoli, your average speed over 1800 non-interstate miles is pretty darned impressive!
