Upon picking up my new car at the dealer two weeks ago, I activated and then deactivated PED before leaving. I deactivated it for three reasons:
1) A large key in my pocket would irritate me while seated. I'd rather leave it somewhere else, like the ignition.
2) I like the tactile experience of inserting and turning the key.
3) My key is painted the color of my car, and it looks dramatically better than the PED key.
I'm sure that PED works great. I'm also pretty sure that I'm happier not using it.
I found out by accident that when u do not have the key on u, with the car unlocked, and get in the car u just have to turn the dummy key to the left and it comes out in an instant.

Wasn't too sure I'd like PED when I ordered it but I now enthusiastically endorse it. On a side note, I get a small sense of security knowing that if I'm ever carjacked I can turn the car off as I'm getting out and the p_ick trying to take it won't be able to. And I may be laughing my _ss off as I run away like hell!

They're on to that. Now they take you with the car and you'll likely end up dumped somewhere with a bullet in your head. I suggest you politely hand your carjacker the real key from your pocket like you just valeted it for him.
If you're lucky, he'll let you go and you can call to have the LoJack activated after he drives off.

Good tip. Thanks!
I wonder if they're also on to the electric parking brake. Maybe I could set it and watch them try to figure out why the car isn't going?

LOJACK? Lol. My dealer offered it. I told him, if it's stolen, I don't want it back.
