Default Question for LED light owners

I'm working on a build for a C4S and had the chance to stop at the Auto Gallery in Woodland Hills over the weekend (thanks, Tripp). He went over my build and was making a case for LEDs over PDLS. I haven't seen them in the flesh (and the PDLS on my 981 provides excellent lighting). Plus, it's a $4K delta when you lose the package pricing on the PDLS. In my world, I need to think about $4K extra.
So, for those of you that live with them, do you feel they represent a $4K value? Is the lighting down the road that much better, or do they mostly "look cool"?
Thanks.

Tried them both and found very little difference between the two. The pdls are already so good, It is difficult to improve. Not worth it unless you think the look is worth it.

I have the LED's and love them. In the past my Porsches had either Litronics or Xenon lights and they were great, too. I mainly got the $$$ LED's because the DRL function (halos) are so freaking cool, and I thought this option would make the 991 a little more relevant in the coming years with regard to headlight technology.

Exactly what I was wondering. Nope, don't need an extra $4K worth of cool. If they improved down range lighting (which was hard to imagine since my PDLS are so good), then I'm willing to pay.
Thanks.

IIRC, if you are getting xenons with PDLS, the upgrade delta for the LEDs is <$2k. But to your point, that's a lot of coin to be cool.

If my avatar is any indication, I think the LEDs are a must.

YMMV

I echo LexVan. Love mine for the look. Not worth 4k for the function but it's very cool. Also, LED's draw VERY little power.

I have no idea about the efficiency of the LED's versus non. Looks wise, I can't say I am a fan of the clear circular plastic trim around the housing. Looks really cheap to me. I was not in love with the 4 lit dots either, but those are growing on me. If I had ordered my car I would have gone with the xenon headlights i imagine. The LED double projector certainly looks more futuristic to me. This was also something i did not love in regards to the 50th car, but I now think it works and is a nice juxtaposition of newer tech and older style elements.

I don't know if the LEDs provide a functional difference in the lighting. I got them because they look amazing during the day with the four small lights and with the two LED bulbs in the housing, they look more aggressive. Also, more people will be getting LEDs so the Xenon will start to look a bit dated. Is that a good reason to get LEDs? For me it is.

I guess I'm not cool. I looked at them when I configured my order but decided to apply that money on what I felt were more functional options. And for that price I got several. Everybody places a different value on them. I'm certainly not disappointed in the PDLS, they are great.

Got em cuz I like em....

"are they worth it" is something you best not ask yourself about LED's and most other Porsche options...

I am legally blind in my right eye and have bad night vision. For me the difference is apparent and worth the money.

I have them on my CLS. They are brighter. In my case the option was only $1,500.00. At 4K I would pass. I would rather spend the bucks on PSE.

Yeah the black bi-xenons look slick. I bet the LEDs will be offered in black soon.
