If they were, then they were losing both time AND g's. Every tire makes maximum grip at about the same point, right where the tire is sliding but only just a little bit. This is where these guys are posting their max g readings. Anything beyond that to where the tire is sliding a lot is beyond max traction so lower g force. Hanging the rear out is worse still because now not only is the rear end sliding too much, but you're not able to get the most out of the fronts either. Its drama, not speed.
