My experience is that amorous Labradors occasionally suffer this condition.

I wish it was a button that is start/stop. This dummy key looks like you left your key in the ignition. A thief might think all he has to do is bust the window and drive away. Of course, you can't start it without the real key.

If it was a button, it would be a BMW.

It's a Porsche.

Porsche has motor sports heritage regarding the left hand key-turn. I for one, love feeling her bark to life with that twist.

That said, Porsche will probably cave and make a button someday. I like having something completely different, myself. No thief is ever going to look past that blinking LED on the door panel and think it's a real key waiting for him.

Key doesn't bother me at all...never even thought about the theft issue...and, where does one leave a $100k plus car?

I have the black plastic key. Can anyone take a pic of the silver one? Is it a metal piece or just painted silver?

Think of it as a rotating button. Chuck911 will be along with information about keeping the finish clean and, hum, dull.

i'm assuming you have a cell ....... the Porsche Good to Know app (aka Porsche for Dummies) has saved me from looking stupid many times and since I forget about all the features, I have to re-read it. Had the car for 18 months and had never used the FM/AM tuner (just the PSE sound or a ipod).............just yesterday tried it

It's not a key, it's a Start Toggle just like the button in an Aston or a BMW. You are not supposed to remove it ever, surely the Salesperson told you about that.

I thought it was weird that Porsche didn't use a button at first but after using it, I realized the toggle is more intuitive for selecting intermediate positions that turn on electronics without activating the starter motor. The key is the remote.

I ordered it from a dealer out of state, missed the tutorial. Local service center seemed to try to see if i bought it from them over the phone. I feel like the local service center who is also a dealer is going to put my service requests last in line for not buying from them.
