I have a car port and the only times that are good to wash from a "no direct sunlight" perspective aren't all that convenient. While not a perfect solution, I use the CR Spotless so that any water drying on the car doesn't spot. I also have a foam gun which seems to help keep soap from drying out too quickly while I'm using my mitt.

I don't really get the point of a grit guard. I spray my mits off with a hose when they are dirty away from the bucket. When I put them back in the bucket for more soapy water I don't dig off the bottom of the pail anyway...

I happen to have a good grit guard bucket though. Its Griot's Ultimate Car Wash Bucket. There is an upper level grit guard to wash off your mits in the bucket so you don't get water everywhere. If you are outside it doesn't matter and there is no point put more water in your bucket and dilute your soap.

The theory behind the grit guard is that when you thrust the mitt into the bucket, the water swirls and will lift grit that has settled from the bottom. The grit guard provides kind of a wave barrier that keeps the water below the guard mostly still so grit isn't circulated throughout the bucket.

Very interesting, thanks for your thoughts.

Well said! Once you do a two bucket wash, you'll get the hang of it. Doesn't take any longer really just a bit safer when it comes to marring the paint.

Its a set, 38B and 40DD. But order the Vegas Car Wash Kit, save 20% and they throw in a free Nano-Skin Lube sample (I sink).

what are you sinking about? Perhaps the special Griot's car washing shoes the girls are wearing which allow you to comfortably wash and dry the roof?

Back to the topic of paint protection film care; My installer told me NOT to use carnuba on my 3M Xpel. He even gave me a couple bottles of synthetic wax to use on the film. This is a reputable custom shop that does 90% of the high end/exotic cutom work in Nashville. Your thoughts?

Whenever I hear something like that I like to ask, why? More often than not the answer is gibberish. (Actually its always been gibberish, but I'm making future allowances.) Try both, use whichever one you like best.

I'm actually a big fan now of this detailer spray...it's the first time I've used one as I was always afraid I would still scratch the clear coat when dust and light dirt is being wiped off. But this product does none of that and leaves that shine and feel you get from a fresh wax.
