Getting my money's worth
I turned 30K miles this weekend in 18 months of ownership on a roadtrip to Austin for a mountainbike race. In contrast to the other thread here now with Lemon Law problems, my car has been pretty much flawless.
For the first 15 months, it was my only car so it saw daily driving to work (short commute), chores, and lots of road trips. It's been to Durango CO and Birmingham AL as its longest trips, but all over Texas and Louisiana as well mostly for bike trips. The roof rack has certainly had a workout.
It is the most rewarding car I've ever owned and I've had lots of them. It's solid as a vault, comfortable yet sporty, and the sights, smells, and sounds remind you you're driving something special every time you turn the key.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, this was not a flippant purchase or a midlife crisis, more like a special purchase as I near my retirement years. I am somewhat bemused by how many owners buy these and let them sit in the garage most of the time when it was engineered from the ground up to be a solid everyday car. Looking forward to my future trips and drives.

I loathe "kill" stories, but I do need to add a "slight wound" story from this weekend. For any Austinites on here, my race was at Pace Bend Park on Lake Travis. On the way back to town Saturday afternoon, I took the curvy secondary route on Bee Cave Rd from Pace Bend Rd back to 71. It's hilly and curvy with a speed limit of 45 and even at that speed you can feel the G-Forces. Traffic is iffy but that day I hadn't seen a single car for the first few miles until I came rolling up on a brand new C7 Corvette still with paper plates plodding along about 30mph.
I kind of thought he would goose it when I came up behind but instead continued his lack of pace. A couple turns later there was just enough straightaway for me to get around and two turns later he was out of sight. Showed him, right!

Driving my brand new 991 today I felt the same about what an experience these cars are - the sounds, the mechanical smoothness, the comfort, the sportiness - unreal. It's no wonder Porsche makes one hell of a profit. The value proposition is hard to beat!

12.5 K in 13 months ('13 991S PDK)...couple minor things, but nothing like this POS 2000 996
I purchased new that leaked oil + electrical issues from day 1.
What a difference 13 years makes!

You forgot to mention getting 29 mpg at 85 with a bike on the rack! And not your first post to mention passing! Got to love it! The best however is taking them on a curve, and so fast they never see you coming and never catch sight of you again either. (Ask me how I know!) Only thing better would be doing that with a bike on the rack! In that case,
Keep up the good work!

Bravo!
The only thing keeping me from driving more is that silly thing called work. And the fact that there's only 24-hours in a day.
