Default Ventilated seats

Does anyone else besides me find the ventilated seats to not be very, um, effective?

Even at max setting, with the A/C on, I can barely feel the air. I can feel it, but it's just not very noticeable. It's louder than anything else, and sort of detracts from the PSE.

Maybe my jeans are too thick...

It pulls air away from you, so you feel a cooling effect and opposed to actual air blowing on you..

I was told to make sure there is room for the air to move under the seats. That mad them work much better.

This. And hopefully you have black leather, because jeans can really cause some nasty dye transfer on lite colored leathers.

What do you mean by room?

Obviously you don't want to stuff the area under the seats with junk, but do you mean raising them up a bit?

Correct. To quote another of our Rennlisters - Minok from the PNW - which had a pretty good post on the subject: 'the seats are not air conditioned...they are ventilated, a fan draws air through the holes in the seat and back and a bit through the bolster sides into the seat and back. The cooling effect comes from that airflow pulling moisture off of your skin.. the way the body cools itself .. evaporation. The effect is more pronounced if you wear breathable clothing.. say natural fibers like cotton (jeans and t-shirt work).. than synthetics like polyester or a very tight weave also doesn't work as well (silk for example) If its cool outside, there is little effect. If its very humid in the car, its of little effect - since the air cannot evaporate much moisture from the skin mater how much it blows over the skin."

So on ventilated Porsche seats, keep the back of the seats cleared (more so than 'stuff' under the seats)! The exit vents for the air needs to be unblocked! And only ambient air is involved with these ventilated seats. So keep the A/C working in the cabin...that is the 'conditioned' air that will be drawn to the seats!

Saludos,
Eduardo

The max effect is when you have cool air in the car- especially in the sumer with the AC on, - then it has a nice cool zone between you and the leather. I really like it on long trips.

I have them in my Lexus and find them useless. That's why I didn't get them in the 991. Probably less need in Canada anyways. Maybe it doesn't work well if you have a fat *** and block all the holes. Lol.
