Default Headroom in 911 porsche model 997 vs 991 body?

I know the 991 new body style is a bit longer and like 2 inches wider than the 997 generation, but is there more headroom? I'm cutting it close on the headroom that's why I'm asking.

I'm looking at a black edition 2012 911 which is the 997 body. Its got 10k miles, automatic, and asking is just under $80k. They say its pristine with 2 owners. Think that's a fair deal?

Thanks and sorry if I'm in the wrong forum

I looked everywhere and I can't find a better price. If you can find a better price in south Florida where I am I'll be forever greatful. I guess I just want the 911 Carrera cabriolet model in 997 generation, black, year 2009 or greater (automatic) in black with a good deal. Having big time trouble finding a bargain for sure.

I'm 6'6" so that's good to hear jlanka. I sat in a 997 2012 model 911 Carrera and it was ok, but I wasn't sure if it was the 991 or 997 because the dealer was clueless.

The 991 has more headroom than the 997. Listen to Koz. Keep looking. If you can squeeze a few more bucks out of your pocket for the love of God get a 2012 991 with PDK. It'll drive circles around that 997. And I'm a huge fan of the 997 and 996. OK, not as much with the 996 athough I was spoiled and was able to drive a 996 GT3

Hi Marcus thanks for your post. So besides the slight size increase you are saying primarily the engine/gear shifting is faster? I'm not so concerned about racing/speed. I thought I'd just save a few bucks not worry about the speed differences.

Maybe my question should be how do I find good deals on a Porsche? I looked everywhere: autotrader, ebay, Porsche.com dealers websites etc. Is there somewhere I'm not looking?

You need to drive a 997 and 991 back to back. Everyone likes something different but the 991 is a leap in technology. Doesn't sound like you are coming from another P-car so you won't have any analog, hydro steering blah blah hang ups from the 997 "Drivers car" that the 991 is supposedly not. So untrue. Don't get me wrong I love the 997. I just love my 991 more.

It's slightly bigger inside and out than the previous car. What you need anyway. Even at 6'6 you can wear a helmet in the 991 and have some room. Also, the PDK in the 991 is like going from Nasa 1969 to today. It's that more fulfilling to drive. I'm not talking about just being a faster car but a 3.4 991 PDK is faster than a 997S. Google it. Hell, a lot of the Chris Harris club will tell you the 991 S feels faster than the 997 GT3.

To summarize, drive a 997.2 PDK and a 991 3.4 PDK back to back. You have to drive those two cars and then only you can decide. Also, by going to the 991 you will have 3-4 more years of relevancy. Good luck!

Oh yea. "disclaimer"

You are in the 991 forum.

If you post this question in the 997 section you are going to hear quite the opposite.

Go to Porsche.com and search preowned 911 cars for 2012. That's another good place to find what you may be looking for. Not all of the dealers around the country are advertising in the media. Expand your search outside of FL and have it delivered/shipped to you. It's worth searching for it. You should be able to do better than $80 for 997 black edition. I didn't pay much more for a low mileage 2012 991 Cab.

http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/usa/...ns_=A&fuel_=AA I did that basic search, automatic, black, nationwide, nothing under 78k for almost 10k more miles than I'm looking at... tough stuff!

I'm on the fence about going just with the new basic model maybe it will run me $110k and be done with this!

Just shop around and dealer against dealer.

I got into my 2013 Carrera S, June build, PDK, Sport Chrono, PSE (sport exhaust), PDLS, parking, sunroof in glass, Carrera Classics, etc for less than $110 and the car had 12 miles on it. Brand new.

You should be able to find a 2013 991 with a few miles on it for way less than $100k.

You should be able to find a 2013 991 CPO low to mid 80's. Try circle porsche for a comparison. Be patient it is worth it.

Hmm, I was able to get a 2014 991 C2 7Spd Manual with a few options for $85k brand new. Love it by the way!

I went with a new 911 cabrio with pdk, the 997 body was too small.
