"Anyone here have a Porsh- somebody just hit your car"
Early December, I'm at work in the middle of doing a root canal and one of my front desk ladies comes back and says someone hit my car in the parking lot. I'm thinking door ding and I'll check when I'm done. "No, you better come out, the police are coming…" My patient understood and was gracious about leaving her for a while. I had to also witness them pulling the car off of mine so I couldn't blame the wrecker for further damage (wtf, the cops were right there too?). She was worried when I came back that I would be too upset to finish her procedure. I reassured her that it was just a car and no big deal, really.
A 30 yo guy says his throttle stuck and he was sorry. He was a little spacey and was chuckling like Beavis or Butthead with one of his buddies on the phone like it was real funny. I wanted to strangle him (but the cops were there), not because he hit my car but because of his imbecile attitude. He obviously was texting and a little out of it when he ran the stop sign and jumped the curb. When I got the police report, I recognized the name and he is the son of a former neighbor...
Damages were superficial, $10k total, he had insurance and we're working on diminished value now. It actually looks perfect, probably better than new because I had a few of those pesky brown rust spots in my clear coat from day one.
Ironically, the week before I took it in to trade on the new Turbo S but couldn't justify the $100k difference to upgrade.
It was always a garage queen since a Cayenne Diesel is my DD. I'm surprised how much I missed it the last 2 months and now that it's "damaged goods" and worth a lot less I'm inclined to just keep it, drive the wheels off it and not care if it gets beat up a little along the way

Sorry to see that! Reminds me of almost identical experience when the waitress came and asked me...is that your Aston Martin. Damage not as bad as yours but I know the feeling! Hope it all comes out perfect for you.

Geez....I'd have given him a reason to replace all his front teeth, doc.
How did the root canal come out?
Glad the car was put back nicely....nice white beauty there.

Thanks for all the replies. My patients all survived that day. My wife, kids and friends all assume I will get a different Porsche now and I did as well. I've spent 2 months deliberating what I would replace it with (sorry about other posts here and 6spd) but I don't think there's anything else I would rather have. I've had a couple turbos and love the torque but I find the 991S has enough power for the kind of driving I do.

I keep looking at the picture, how Butthead had to drive clear across the street and up and over a mound to hit you. Throttle stuck? Even floored the brakes can stop it three times over. Imbecile is right. Should have hit the cables and wound up under the telephone pole instead of on top of your car. Oh well. If as you said this gets you "driving the wheels off it" now then maybe it will all have been worth it. There's a Porsche ad on my garage wall a friend gave me, a 911 sitting in a garage, caption reads: "All the hours your Porsche spends parked. You don't get those back."

Ouch that hurts. No worries, your 991 is still great and you should not consider it damaged goods (I think that based on the pictures and repairs, Porsche would still CPO it the day you trade it in). Whether it was brand new or repaired, you should definitely drive the wheels off it... but check for another parking spot
