Default or 19's...

I know...I feel the same way.
Below, are the 19's...they fit & think I may go that route with the centers painted body color.

I like 'em. But not going to work on PA roads.

I'd stay away from 21"... of the options Porsche offers on the 991 I like the sport technos the best.

Sport Techno's +1! Although the Carrera S makes it a close call by being light, and free. And loks damn good for a zero cost option. When painted though like Slantnose is considering, then Sport Techno's are the absolute tops. The 19" Fuchs style above would also look great with centers painted. But I don't care for the newer Fuchs look, and I know why. They dished it. To my eye it looks better on the 19" and more like the original when they widen the rim instead of dishing it.

The only problem with switching to Sport Technos is that the cost is halfway to a Powerkit, and with the savings in hand by not getting the wheels the incremental difference begins to feel like a justification.

On the other hand the Sport Techno and whale tale combination of ipse exit looks soooo damn right, and with the money I have in hand by not doing the power kit, how can I not...

I better stop now before I sprain something.

Wheels are very subjective and just go with what you like. I like the design, but I agree there's other styles that make the 911 stand out. To be honest, I'm not sure that's even the best design on the 458 even though it comes with it. What size is it in that picture? I think 21 is big, especially as the tire will be thinner. Also I think aftermarket rims only look good if you lower the car at least a bit. Do you have SPASM? If not, you may want to consider lowering it.

I think the rims look nice but are too big in 21".

20s are plenty large. 21s or larger are too ghetto for my tastes.

Do 19's ride better than 20's on the 991. 21's must be stiffer than the 991 was designed for.

Size should depend on what you plan on doing with the car. Will it be a every day driver car or will you be doing some aggressive driving? For an overall better feel id say 20's would be good. 21's would look sick though. All preference.

Agreed. I'm thinking about a set of Cayman S factory wheels (19") for my 991S for winter tires and getting the insides shadowbox painted to look like the 50th wheels as other than the paint and the 19 vs 20" size they appear to be identical and would have a much better Fuchs look than those C7 looking all chrome ones.

Hate hate hate chrome wheels though.

^^ love that reference to the "C7 looking rims." Chrome rims also are not my cup of tea. I've got Carrera Classics for my summer tires and Carrera S standard rims for my winter set-up. The Cayman S rims would look sweet, though.
