Meant to be Driven!
Had a great 3 day weekend drive with friends in the Northwest. Roads were great, but dirty. The car looked well used when we got home, but the transformation was amazing. Just made me want to go out and drive some more. These cars are meant to be enjoyed, and they do clean up!

Good technique.

Oregon has some of the worst nanny-state cops, no passing zones and speed limits (still 60 max even on deserted interstate right?) but it also has some beautifully smooth and delightfully twisty roads once you get off the main routes. My favorite was a small group tour from Mt Hood to Cannon Beach through Detroit. On a map it says the roads are Pinhead Creek, Clackamus River and Breitenbush Rd but the roads themselves are mostly unmarked and at one point we were walking around an unmarked intersection in the middle of nowhere looking for clues when someone spotted a paper plate with "this way" written on it. No kidding! All worth it though for the roads were smooth as glass, narrow, nearly void of traffic and ran for 100 miles. One long stretch was driveway-wide with lots of hairpins, so narrow we decided it wasn't a Porsche road, it was a Porsche trail! And yet, beautifully smooth! We were all track and autocross drivers having plenty of fun yet only able to average about 45-50 over these 100+ miles!
Would love to know where you went on your trip. Always looking for new roads...

Oregon has some terrific roads! This trip was down to the coast. We went down to Pacific City and them worked our way to Astoria. The drive from Jewel to Astoria was really nice. Coming home we hit highway 47 from Klatskanie to Jewej and Vernonia. Great curves. Plenty more where those came from!!

I know that area well. Beautiful rolling wooded country. And logging trucks. Clatskanie to Mist is just about the best 13 miles of 2nd/3rd gear curves anywhere. PNWR does a Columbus Day weekend Tour to Cannon Beach every year and after the excellent pizza at Fultano's in Clatskanie the road to Mist is the main highlight of the tour. From Cannon Beach I like to take 101 south past Nehalem, turning north onto 53, which gets progressively twisty as it climbs up out of a valley and over a ridge before dropping back down onto 26, where I either turn around or loop back to CB. Maps show a ton of little roads around there. Don't suppose you know if some of them like Hamlet Rd or Cole Mountain Ridge Rd are paved?

Three Wheelin'
What a goodlooking car with a great color combo is what first went through my mind ... but wait ... I've got the same LOL ... we are so fortunate to own and be able to enjoy such beautifull and capable cars !
I like that foam. Have to look into that myself ! Did you use that plastic container with manual airpump, or attach to garden hose or high pressure ?
What was the powertool for ?

Burning Brakes
my guess is he took the plates off. I all use a foam gun attached to hose...mine is from Griot's, works well.

What I notice before washing is the beautiful dirt. Seriously. Dirt patterns reveal aerodynamic flaws. On most cars there would be streaks and patches, especially around things like headlights and fenders. But look at this 991. Just beautiful smooth areas. The side mirror, people gripe about buffeting but just look how beautifully it integrates with the airflow. Not one hint of disruption! Why even the leading edge of the door handle shows more, and there are no streaks at all over the hood and fenders, not even around the turn signals. They would stand right out on a white car, but they simply are not there. Impressive!

I agree. Very nice stance. That's the Sport PASM (you can tell from the front spoiler lip). The extra 10mm lower makes a huge difference over a PASM car. 20 mm lower than a base car without PASM.
