Put a deposit on a targa today
Hello,
I'm a new member here and I put a deposit on the new targa today. I saw a picture of it in the morning and I knew I had to have it, so I signed up for June delivery.
I'm not very familiar with Porsche, and haven't owned one since the Boxster I had back in college. My question to the forum is, should I get the 4 or the 4s? I will not be tracking the car, but I do like a little oomph in my daily driving, so I'm wondering how noticeable the difference in power is.
I test drove a 4s today, but unfortunately didn't have the chance to drive the 4. The salesperson seemed to think that the 4 would be adequate since I won't be racing it at the track.
Would appreciate some opinions, thanks.

Some of the options on the 4 are standard on the S. It doesn't take many of those before you realize you'll be better off just getting the S. But the base model on the other hand even with few or no options is still a lot of car. "Adequate" is being extremely conservative to say the least. Pretty much everyone here will agree that while Porsche options are expensive, you really do get what you pay for. Well, there may be an exception or two… But beyond that, so much depends on your individual desires that the only way to really know for sure is to take the time to drive and compare for yourself. Or, if cost is no object, just get the S, load it up and enjoy!

4S manual.
Aside from getting options in the 4 standard in the S, you get much better low rpm torque, which makes it more fun.
The manual will save you $4k, some weight, add immeasurable amount of fun to driving and give you better control

Wow, it's unanimous! Ok, 4s it is.
It will have to be PDK though, as I want my wife to enjoy it as well, and she cannot drive stick.
Just deciding on the color combo now. Was thinking about metallic black or the dark blue with the standard black interior.
Also, the dealer is charging me the full list price. He said that allocations for this are few and since it will likely be a "hot car", they won't discount it. Is that true with new Porsche's? I ordered other hot new cars in the past and was still able to get discounts.
