Default Dream Cars How Its Made 911

Velocity tonight is airing an excellent show featuring the construction of 991 car and engine. It is sure to be repeated and worth catching! Interior full leather = 5 cows.. Holy Cow!

Saw the show, wish they had talked more on engine manufacturing, if I remember correctly, they make a mistake calling the engine a V6 at some point.

Also, I remember one of these shows describing exhaust installation while the cooling lines were being placed.

I like these kind of shows, even with inaccuracies. I especially liked seeing the wiring harness being created on a loom, woodworking, using vacuum to fit headrests, etc.

In the clip above that's exactly what happens! I think people are so used to long exhaust pipes running front to back they assume that's what this is, even though these run back to front and include radiator hose. Don't see radiator hose used in exhaust pipes all that often, except of course on the elusive flat V-6.

i'm constantly amazed at how the line keeps moving and everything fits, attaches, bolts-on perfectly in seconds.

Forget the user name right now, but we have a rennlister who picked up a PTS Aetna Blau 991 used last year. High odds that is his car that appears in the video...how cool is that?!

If you can get to Germany, a factory tour is a must. Every Porsche enthusiast should go at least once. Its a pain in the butt to get tickets but well worth the trip.

Yeah, but I think he would have said something if his car came with a V-6 and front exhaust.

Maybe that's why the original owner traded it in? Or perhaps he thought the interior was installed backwards?

Chuck:

I agree. I DVR'ed the segment and it is well done and very informative. As a lifelong gear head and one that appreciates fine machinery I think it was a great show.

Be safe
Patty
