I'm surprised more manual owners haven't responded to your comment so maybe there is some truth to it. But for me, the manual is a pleasure to drive. I guess the 6 speed in my GT3 was better but I can't fault the 7 spd in my 2016.

What manual owners (sad face). Only ever seen 3 991 manual cars.

I only drove that 3.4L car with the manual for a few minutes but it didn't seem that bad.

I like my manual and I can shift it pretty quick (getting better all the time preparing for the track this spring). I think I've only used 7th once while I was rolling down the interstate at 80+ while on cruise control

I see no real fault in the gearbox itself but I'm not fond of the chosen gear ratios.

I couldn't disagree more with the post on the 991 manual being poor - I love it! And I have had some of the best to compare it to (2 miatas, E46 M3, Mini Cooper, 987 Cayman with factory short shift kit, etc).

I really think people who don't like it have a hard time with 5-6-7 due to the nature of the long 7th gear and its interlocks, but once you learn it it's fine. I honestly would recommend this manual to the most finicky manual experts - it's that good. I thought I would have to get the short shift kit, but I'm not so sure I need it. I have a 2012 C2.

Sounds awesome! The mechanical bits though sound like a sewing machine.

Speaking of the truth, I had my Porsche tech and parts manager compare the GTS manual to my base Carerra and they could not find one physical or parts number difference. So, if the parts are identical how could Porsche /ZF make the gear box really any different? I think you are basing your opinion on what the pundits have said, which has no basis in physical facts.

The manual in the 991 GTS is great. Worlds better than the 6 speed in my E9x M3 and better than the Honda box in my RSX and TL Type-S. No complaints about it at all. Nice, short precise throws. Clutch pedal feel is great.

I am still waiting for pictures from my Indy mechanic installer for my SharkWerks side mufflers delete/bypass (aka Race exhaust) to post, but wanted to report back my thoughts after driving it for a week. I really like it! But it is not that much louder, just a deeper tone at every rpm. It honestly surprised me that it isn't as loud as Sharky and Dan "warned me" about. And since I don't have PSE I didn't want to "lose" my CM valves but wanted more sports car sound. I believe I got it! I tried sending my iPhone recording of before and after to my iPad but no luck so far. I may just do a recording of "after" with my iPad and post it here soon. Very happy with the change, especially for $1245 total. Thanks SharkWerks.
