Default Pirelli or Michelin winter tires?

Need to get a winter wheel/tire combo for my C4S, because I drive it every day in Ohio. i have had fine luck with summer performance tires from both. Anyone have negative experience with either in WINTER tires? Thanks.

Not sure about bad reviews but I got the Michelin Alpin PA4's on my C4S and they work great! Check it out https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7889...or-winter.html

Greetings, I live in Ohio, as well. I use my c4s as my dd. I had my dealer put on Michelin Alpin's on my c4s. I am quite happy with them. I think I may also get Michelin's for my summer tires and store the stock Pirelli's. Cheers.

Thanks guys. The reviews of the PA4 as a C4S winter/snow tire are pretty compelling. I have a 40 mile drive on country twisties between my house and office. I have a 4WD Yukon XL to use, but the trip is made for a 911. The P-Zeros are pretty hopeless if there is snow and ice. I'd just like to be able to use the 911 every day, and best of all, my wife said "I want to buy you a winter wheel tire set for the 911 for Christmas"!

I married up.

Most claim the snow ability of the Michelin is a bit better than that of the Pirelli, and either will certainly run circles around the summer P-Zeros. Please give me a call, I'm here to help you get it set up Thanks.

Thanks Damon, I will call. I'm a long time customer. Like from 1977 when you started down by the old Cork and Cleaver. I grew up in St. Joseph, Mi.

I have the pirelli's and there performing very well, but it's not my dd and I pick and choose cold dry days.

I remembering seeing a British car journo do a comparison of the 2 and they picked the michelins hands down in real snowy conditions

I also went with Michelins on my 991 over Pirellis based on the reviews I read. I just put Pirelli Scorpion Winters on my Range Rover Sport last week, and they were excellent in the snow we got the other night. Michelin doesn't make anything that fits my RRS, so I didn't have a choice. I had Michelin Latitude Alpin snows on my 2010 RRS, and liked them a lot. Still needed to focus in heavy snow and slush, but 275 tires are never going to handle snow like a 225 tire. So I wasn't surprised.

I have the Sottozeros set up with 19" wheels from Tirerack (Damon).

Very happy with the outcome. Posted a picture in this thread:

Just ordered a 2014 C4S. It will be my DD and I plan to put on non OEM 19" wheels for the winter to go with some snow tires. Any good places to look for non OEM 19" wheels that will fit?
Thanks
zach

I had both the Pirelli Sotozzero and the Michelins on my 997 C4S and I prefer the Michelins for a Minnesota winter. I have heard that Pirelli has come out with a version 3 of the Sotozzero, I have not tried that one.

I have C2 with 20" winter Pirelli's, no problem in the snow. Traction control works great in straight line and not in turns just enough for maximum fun!!
