Don't do it. Not the best thing for the engine. Get in, turn it on, drive off after the cold cycle, keep it under 3k until warmed up. Buy a hat and gloves.

It was a no-cost option probably only available here in the yet-to-be-liberated south of England.
I just laughed out loud.

You're actually the first man I know that says his wife was a no-cost option! hahaha

If you want a Porsche that blows hot air fast, get an aircooled 933 for example.

I introduce her as my 'first wife' (and she occasionally refers to herself as my '...carer...'; cruel, but fair.

So is this pre-heat (not engine start) system available on a 911 from factory?

Not from factory and I just checked if it was available via german Tequipment, but nope... Porsche doesn't have that system for the 991. Only for Macan, Cayenne and Panamera.

I need a remote start. I have a short drive every day (about 3 minutes).

It takes the car 10 minutes to warm up...when I say warm up... I mean that the blowers are sending on hot air so that I am not driivng to work with the wipers and and windows fluid constantly spraying. I have used de-icer on the outside windows etc, but they will still freeze.

In the past I have gone out, pressed unlock 1 time to open drivers door, started the car and then closed the drivers door and manually closed it by using the mechanical key inside the fob.

It is exceptionally annoying. I won't wait 10 minutes every morning to drive for 3 minutes. I will also not go outside and inside again to manually unlock the car. I also have neighbors, so I cannot go outside and redline the engine to get heat into it!

http://www.viper.com/SmartStart/

This is what I want for my 991 - the ability to start the car from iphone and wifi etc. I want it to be on a schedule, so the car starts by itself at 7am, runs for 10 minutes and then stops. When I go outside at 7:15am the car will be warm and no ice = no problems.

I actually thought it was the no cost option for the wife/gf under the order code: MAN
