Now the question is...
Do you follow porsche break-in, or
Drive it like you stole it?

12-hour weekend day shifts as plant security for a local MARSEC industrial concern aside, that would be great.

I would not only demand a powerkit engine, but also additional cash to compensate you for diminished value as you will own a car with non-matching numbers, which will cause you to have to sell or trade at a discount in the future.

Not true, IMO. Non issue. The 991 is not a 356.

50 miles? Hmmm. Don't listen to me. I'm always suspicious.

Only collectors and concours guys care about matching numbers enough to pony up for 'em. Both groups also want everything just as delivered from the factory. From that tiny niche perspective this car was 'compromised' long ago. Trying to sell the car right now might ring some bells, but Nicoli loves it, drives it, and so by the time he gets round to selling it will be just another well cared for 991, only with a little bit fresher engine than the odometer would suggest. In terms of eventual resale, given the circumstances and documentation, its likely a wash or depending on the buyer maybe even a slight plus. If I had two identical cars to choose from and one had a newer factory motor I know which one I would want.

Doesn't matter. A non-matching car is worth less regardless of its age or collect-ability. I've obtained diminished value for clients on engine swap Japanese sedans.

So, you want us to believe that if you were looking at two identical 991s, one with the original engine and one with a engine swap, you would pay the same for the engine swap car? Regardless, the used car market has already spoken and devalues non-matching cars, regardless of the age or collect-ability of the car.

I would pay the same or more for a like-like car with a fresher motor.

Yup I'd pay for the new engined car.

Just shows you how hyped up perception is. How could a car with more miles on it (it would have those same miles with the original engine) be worth less with a brand new engine?

Odd...

Glad it all worked out for you. Now you can enjoy the car again!

My friend bought a 991 w/ PDK in June and it had a total transmission failure after 26 miles. Did not even get home to show his wife. Porsche and the dealer was very apologetic and had him back on the road after 6 weeks (had to wait on a new transmission from Germany). Root cause from Porsche was; the software engaged two gears at the same time.
