Default feels like i'm running over acorns when turning the wheel in reverse

I have power steering plus and thought it was somewhat normal.

But today, something didn't feel right about the wheel hub making so much noise like I ran over something.

Gonna take it to the dealer unless people say it's normal..

I have summer tires and when the temps fall, mine will sound like that when the wheel is turned sharply at low speed. If it is something else, by all means see the dealer..

thank you for the response...it's freezing here in NJ...probably normal I guess.

Why does it do that or feel that way?

I think it is emanating from the front tyres.

These wide low-profile tyres don't do slow sharp turns well and when reversing with the wheel sharply over (or going forwards), the tyre's inclination is to go straight along the road-surface - following the direction of the car - rather than roll over it in the direction of the front axle; in effect, slow-speed understeer.

Makes a dreadful noise but is perfectly harmless.

Explained in detail recently. Perfectly normal consequence of wide tires and caster angle. Happens going forwards too, which is why tires squeal so easily turning in a parking garage. But its much worse going backwards. Anyway, absolutely nothing to worry about.

When backing out of my driveway and turning sharply I experience this as well. It's normal.

All of the above is true, but did you also check to see if there were acorns on the ground?

That's nuts! (Couldn't resist. Acorns. Nuts. Ah, nevermind.)

P-Zeros, I still hate you.
