Saw my first C7 today

How I really feel? Well then, the truth is, the only thing better than a Corvette is a movie that really gets deep into the heart and soul of not only the Corvette, but the people who are so in love with it.

It is not very appealing design. Looks like F22 raptor and some Asian robot mix.
I really love the C5 Z06. I think it is one of the best looking sports cars on the market. It was the only car I considered getting besides 911.
I think it is much more eye pleasing than the C7.

Seriously! Look at that car!
The C5's smooth, curvaceous lines were just gorgeous. Subtle and not ridiculous.
Had a navy blue metallic '99 coupe with a Lingenfelter motor that just made my heart race.
Paid my dues learning the Corvette on that '99.
What a beauty she was... and what a beauty that Z06 is!

Hate to say it (no really! I do!) but the C5 is still a joke. No not the Vegas Joke in Neon C7 but definitely one you laugh at rather than with.
The front sticks out like 3, 4 feet. The design is so poorly integrated it basically looks like two cars. One, the top, pillars and windshield, looks like it belongs on a completely different car than the other, the flattened and excessively stretched body, nose and tail. The front quarter side vent doesn't look half bad- obviously shaped more for looks than function. But at least they got the looks part right, unlike the black eyesore tacked on aft of the rear fender. I mean, really? Must be half a dozen car shows on right now where they pimp your ride in a weekend, and none of them come out with anything looking half as amateur as that. But I guess when your idol is Mark Hamill's fiberglass metal flake dream ride standards do tend to decline a bit.

Saw my first C7 at PSDS last week at Barber. One of the students arrived in his new vette.
I really like it! I didn't think I'd like the tail lights (too "Camaro-like") but in person they seem to work well with the overall design. The interior looks 1000% better than the C6 generation.
I think they've done a nice job of designing it, and improving it. I enjoyed driving my C6Z06 on track (it's a fun beast) and if they come out with a C7 Z06 (or Z07) I would consider a used version in the future.

I just saw my first C7 on the road going in the opposite direction this past weekend. The exhaust note was nice, and I thought it looked a little bit like a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. However, the rear of the car did have a busy overdone look to it.
Personally I prefer my C2 coupe

Interestingly most of the 911S/C7 comments come down to the look, not performance, even though both are built and marketed mainly on performance.
Look is of course critical too but if it is the most important factor, I would skip both 911 and vette.

That makes two of us. Somehow the C7 looked fine to me. Look is highly subjective, there are plenty of people in the vette camp who hate the look of P-cars.

Cars are marketed on "performance" the way cameras are marketed on megapixels. Gives the typical unenlightened consumer something to feel they can understand and use to compare. In reality these crude measures don't really have all that much to tell us about real-world performance. The performance aspect truth of this shows up in all those times when the 911 with less power, slower 0-60 and worse skidpad g's nevertheless turns a faster time on some demanding course. Doesn't always happen, but often enough to make you go, hmmm. But the real biggie, the way the car feels and responds to the driver, there simply are no numbers for that. The most important thing, and we have no objective measure. A simple fact for which the Corvette team prays thanks nightly, for its the one thing keeping their clown car on the market.
Man, is this the thread that keeps on giving, or what?

I wouldn't be surprised if a $110K 991S could outperform a $60K C7 on a track. On the other hand if you compare the 991S to the comparably priced ZR1, the results will be far different. I've had the pleasure of being on the track with my 997S, and watching a ZR1 up close and personal. The ZR1 not only passed me effortlessly, but also didn't have any problems passing my friend's 997 GT3. About the only Porsche that I saw on the track that day that could hold its own with the ZR1 was a GT2.
