A strange question to ask.
What, where and how do you intend to use the car.
Of course get an S if it falls into your budget.

Perhaps driving them both would be a good start?

Option your car and see. Lotta desirable options on the 991 become standard on the 991S.

I have the base and am MORE than happy with it - I drove Base and S models of the 911 and Cayman - all 3 pedal cars. IMO the S makes more of a difference on the Cayman. I went with the base C2 as The lease deal was too good to pass up - The current program is excellent. That said the S is everything I have and more.

Whatever you choose I advise making sure you order sport chrono. It's that good.

What car are you coming from? This might help in the decision making.

There are those that think the base is enough and those who think the S does not have enough power. There is only one person who knows what you might think.

Testdrive and make up your own mind ! No one hear can answer that for YOU.

"For me", it's clear cut. Getting an S is ridiculous, I can have a GT3 for about the same price. So it's either a C2 or a GT3, don't waste money on an S.

YMMV !

I don't know how pricing works in Europe, but the GT3 is double the price of my S

My opinion, if you can afford the S, take it, don't take the base model unless you feel you're exceeding your budget.

I fall into the camp that feels even the S could do with a little bit more power - but I cannot afford the Turbo and cannot justify the X51 upgrade.

If I could only afford the base model, I think I would have rather bought the Cayman S.

Personal choice, take them for a drive.

My S cost less then 100k so I guess I could say buying a new car is ridiculous but I will pass on saying that. Find me a 991 GT3 for less then a 100K and I will jump all over it. I doubt you could find me a low mileage mint GT3 of any kind for that price.

In the USA a base S is 98,900 and a GT3 is 130,000. Plus good luck getting a GT3 around here.

you'll get a lot of opinions here, including mine, but at the end of the day your opinion is the only one that counts. get in both of them and drive.

i've only had my 991s for a few weeks and i'm coming from a 997.1 base. the 997 was my dream car and replaced the 996 that was my dream car. what i'm saying is i've loved all of them, for different reasons. however, this 991 is a whole different kind of special. it's my first s car and i'm blown away by how completely different it feels and drives. i love it and am thrilled i went with the s. i would recommend it all day long.

chuck911 hit the nail on the head - depending on how you want to option the car, it may just make more sense to go with one over the other.

either way... you can't go wrong. they're all amazing machines.
