This I agree with. But then again, how could you beat some of the other eras you mention.

Again I agree fully. I get the romance of the most evolved air cooled. But the 964 was the best effort to subtle blend of old and new, IMHO.

 

I agree, I prefer non covered bumpers though but the 964 is perfect mechanically to interior wise and has everything I'd ever want in a sports car. They really messed up on the 993 head lights and today's 911 is not raw and fun. Gone too soft, big and luxurious.

 

My feeling when I saw the 991 was that a 911 finally looked like a supercar, i.e. in the Ferrari, Lamborghini mold. I have never believed that the 911 looked like a supercar, only performed like one, now I think that they definitely look like one. I think (yes, I'm biased because I own one) that the styling is beautiful and still recognizably a 911, even to a non-Porschephile.

 

I have to agree, here is my old 993 and new 991, can you see why I miss the 993 less and less.

I'm not sure if sexy accurately describes the 991 or any German car for that matter. Is it good looking, yes!! Is it purposeful, yes!
Over the summer I attended a number of cars and coffee get-togethers where there were a handful of Ferraris, Porsches, Vettes and a beautiful AM DB9. Now that car is sexy!!. Owners of F430 Scuderias and 458s were gathered around my car, taking it in. My racing yellow 991S X51 did not look out of place in the least bit.
Like many others here, I feel the new body with the crescent shaped tail lights is the most balanced looking of all the 911s. I was driving home yesterday and happened upon a black 9914S and it looked oh so nice. I see more Ferraris where I live (I'm 3 miles from the F dealer) but I do see a 991 one from time to time. It's rare that I have a chance to ride behind and along side a new 991. The Porsche lettering was removed from the rear. The new 991 has a nice road presence.
I've owned many interesting sports cars over the years, but this one is the most complete high performance car I've ever owned.

my love affair with the 911 started when i was a 10 years old. it's never faded or waned. for me, each model change is a different version of a beautiful interpretation of a design i find flawless. some interpretations i've liked more than other but i've loved them all.

 

I love the lines of the 993 and til this day, I still smile whenever I see one. Never had any interest in any of the 911 models that followed the 993 until I laid eyes on the 991. Within the first minute of seeing the 991, I knew I had to have one. Porsche has done a tremendous job of redrawing the lines of the rear end to make the lines look so much sexier and the stance more aggressive. I love my 991 and miss my 993. Will definitely have to remedy that soon.

991 coupe sexy / sleek in a masculine way; Cabs are "pretty". 997 sexier from the back, but 991 is sleeker from the back. Flaring out the front fenders slightly would make it even sexier in a mean way (991GTS?), maybe with wheels that have some lip/dish to them rather than the big dinner plate/wagon wheel look. Also why doesn't Porsche already put grilles on the front air intakes for looks and protection-how hard or costly would that be. JMO Disclosure: 997 coupe owner, wannabe 991S/GTS owner one day JMO

 

I constantly have fellow drivers pull up next to me or slow down as they pass me. They give me the Thumps Up and mouth Nice Porsche with a big grin on their face.

Seems to happen about once every other week. I take that as a good sign...and I just have a basic Carrera with the 19" wheels. Nothing fancy.

This is the best design since the 993. Door mounted mirrors plus no two-assed monkey butt bumper thingies = great looking 911.

 

Another thought hit me since my last post in this thread and that is this:
When German cars entered the US market ( VW, BMW 1600, Mercedes 130SL, etc) in the 60's mostly, they were really not very sexy. German cars have not been sexy for the longest time. From the getgo, Ferrrari, et.al (Italian designed cars) have almost always been sexy. All we are witnessing now is the homely school girl turning into the present day super model.
