I’m in my second career.
I was an aerospace engineer until I turned 31. I piloted the ISS in NASA mission control in Houston. By 26 I’d docked the ISS with the Space Shuttle, Progress, and Soyuz.
I took a job with the European Space Agency helping them build their mission control center to operate their contribution to the ISS. I also supported operations during launch, installation, and ongoing ops.
I though I’d spend my life as a human space flight aerospace engineering until I stumbled into consulting at 31 and liked it. I now run a portion of a $3B privately held advisory and technology consultancy. I own a portion of the company; enough that I’m sticking around, but not so much I can leave yet and do what I want to do in retirement—yet. CAGR is addictive.
I’m nearly 45 now. Career three will be as a Porsche master tech.

I'm 39, a programmer auction streaming. Every year the 911 gets a little softer, quieter and more comfortable than previous models because the average age of owners is also growing for me. And when you're in your mid-40s, comfort becomes more important than the extra horsepower that previously led to a noisy, rough ride.
