It is bitter sweet, I worked very hard, 80+ hour weeks, for nearly 20 years and never really had time for family, kids....... All I have to show for it is a lack of debt and retirement account if I make it that retirement age. On the flip side I am finally getting a chance to live and able to do it before I am too old to participate in the things we like to do. Hopefully the next 10 years will help make up for lost time!

There was a thread a year or so ago where that happened and it got contentious with folks pointing out that they were the poor son of a share-cropper and they earned their own way. This is the internet so I remind myself not to take anything too seriously but seeing those more financially successful than I is motivational.

Completely OT: Several months ago I was driving my cousin through a La Jolla neighborhood with $10M+ homes and openly marveling at the wealth. Meanwhile I am in my $100K 911 and she makes probably $15/hr. Perspective is an interesting thing.

Does it matter either way? As long as they are P-car fans and are enjoying it they are all welcome in the group!

I personally think it is neat to see the demographic, lots of very technical people, but I think it is neat to see a younger crowd too. I was not a fan of Porsche favoring cars that were faster, prettier, louder...... but as I owned and drove more and more cars the appeal of the P-cars became greater. We live in a wonderful time to have so many great options and I hope the Porsche keeps making cars long into the future!

I think it says a lot in a positive way about the Rennlist/Porsche community that this thread isn't a total flame-fest

It also goes to show there isn't really a stereotypical 991 owner! it is interesting seeing the more ... unusual professions. As for mine: 106-professional duck/cheapskate

Flip it for one of the new turbo motors. World's different. The 991.1 is great, the NA motor is fantastic, but it's not going to scratch your itch for torque.

Knowing when to borrow is more important than the ability to borrow. Life is better when you get of bed and "want" to work instead of gettng out of bed to work because there is no other choice.

47 semi-retired. I don't need to work but I still do just to fill time.

Another myth buster for me. When I (fully) retired early 20 years ago I had a stack of books I wanted to read.

They are still sitting there.
