PCM 3.1 Wrong Navi Metrics

PCM 3.1 Wrong Navi Metrics
I just got done with a long drive in my new 991 C2Cab (July 2013 build) using the Navi mode for driving instructions. All of the turn and distance directions were incorrectly given in "yards" rather then "feet"; e.g. "..turn in 100 yards" rather than "..turn in 100 feet" - otherwise the Navi/Map works fine. This is true for the voice announcements as well as the displayed distance. Is this something a simple PCM setup change can correct or something more involved? How can I identify the installed PCM 3.1 software version? What's the latest available version?

If you're on the metric system is indicates in metres so yards would be what I would expect in Imperial measurement. My BMW is yards and so is my aftermarket Nav system in my 996 TT.

Not on the metric system, so no metric measurements seem involved. Did change the PCM language from "Automatic" to "English - U.S. version", but no help. Discovered the software to be v 4.51, which is likely the latest...still tinkering with PCM setup....

So you're saying it's actually telling you the wrong distance - not just using the wrong units, right?
So when a turn is in 100 feet, it's really telling you 300 feet... If so, that seems very wrong. That's more than just a metric/imperial thing.

The distance numbers read correct, but the measurement unit "feet" is never given, just "yards", e.g. Navi says "100 yards"; the real distance is "100 feet" - it's like "feet" is not in my Navi vocabularly/library. Tried to tweak the PCM Unit settings (under CAR) but changing distance units is not an option. Next step - back to the dealer...

This is due to the slight lag in the GPS getting it's info calculated. On several of my cars the GPS was about 150 to 200 feet behind where the car was (on the screen). Missed more than one turn when not watching street signs as well as the Nav. I do have a similar issue with the 991 (the BMW 650 GPS is more accurate).

I haven't checked in either of my Porsches but you should be able to correct that by calibrating the Navigation. It should be an option in the settings. Also, you can change the settings from yards to feet. I willl have to look tomorrow for you.

Update: Took it to dealer yesterday - they tinkered with the settings and, without understanding how/why, the system began to properly register "feet" - system software version also mysteriously reset from v 4.51 to v 4.52 Left the dealer to drive home and system reverted to "yards" and began to flip-flop between "feet" and "yards". Back to the dealer hour later, who has ordered new data package from Germany and will re-flash the hard drive firmware next week...

Haven't noticed the "yard" distance units, but I have noticed the car icon on my nav maps doesn't "snap" on to the indicated roads, like the other systems I've used. In other words the car's position isn't always on the road but adjacent to it! This creates a problem if I haven't zoomed in enough and there is a high density of roads, I'm not always sure which road the car is on or which cross street it's at!

Update: Got the car back from dealer after they got new firmware and re-flashed the hard drive - still no substantial improvement and the dealer agrees. Dealer's plan is to continue to gather more similar situations (this may be endemic to newly built 991's) and press Germany for a permanent fix. Sidenote: thanks to many who have chimed in and noted that it's merely a selected change in the PCM controls, but none have yet offered exact info as to how to do it. Ball is now in Germany's court...

I just noticed this past weekend that I had a similar situation in my 991 nav. A turn was coming up - and it said "200 yards" when in reality it was a distance more like 200 feet to the turn. Given the spoken instructions I would have expected 600 feet to the turn... So for me it has the number correct as if it were feet, but says yards instead. Therefore, the distances when turns are coming up are off by a factor of 3 (meaning it could be possible to miss a turn because it comes at you sooner than you were expecting).
