Rear fog lights?
I don't get it. When I put the headlight switch all the way clockwise to the manual "ON" position, I can pull it out for some sort of rear "fog light"
It looks to me like the left side only brightens a bit. What good is that? And nothing in the front?

When you switch the fog light on, PDLS invokes it's adverse weather function. Supposed to affect the brightness and widen the beam. Maybe you can see the effect by shining the beam against a darkened wall. Doubt you see anything different in daylight. Only one foglight in the rear otherwise two could be confused with brake lights. I'm sure there are all kind of Euro rules for rear fog lights. IIRC, the US has no rear fog light rules.

I use mine for low-visibility or rain driving conditions - and with the rain up here, am very glad to have it. I love knowing I have a non-standard bright-as-hell light letting folks know there is a little something on the road in front of them and not to run into me, thanks.

USA- we drive on the right-hand side of the road.
Rear Fog Light USA- on the left side of the car.
Why?- this illuminates the safe side of the car for drivers behind you to pass on.

A friend of mine just pointed this feature out to me. Curious to know if anyone uses it. I always just leave mine in the “A” position.

Not surprised it’s 8 years old because I thought I knew almost everything about my 991 and this was news to me. I think it’s a great feature but find it unfortunate I can’t access it from the “A” position. Would love to hear if and how others are using it or do they find it completely useless.

ok, what creeps me out about the switch is, that I did drive at night at the autobahn in the "A" position. Fog started to appear. Visibility was below 50 meters. Thats the time, when you are allowed to switch on the fog rear light in Germany. More visibility = illegal to switch on.
To switch it on, I had to move over the switch all the way to the right and pull the switch. While doing so the light is all dimmed down for a blink of a second. Seems almost like a design flaw. Sure I could have halted the 991 and did the switch then continued coasting.
I do have PDLS and did not observe the headlights in that situation unfortunately. Made it safe through this uncomfortable situation. Love my 991.

I'm purely pulling this out of thin air, but it's a the most logical I can think of over my years of "experience".

Is this on all 991s? Can’t wait to test it.
