Renault introduced it in 1983.

Sorry, but this is one of those "must have" options that leave me scratching my head. So far I've been able to lock/unlock, enter, and start my car with my plebian keyfob.

Me too. And I still like the feeling of placing it in the left keyhole and turning it on. Maybe it goes together with us MT folks. Stuck in the past. Or is that sticking to the past?

I'm also very happy that I stayed with the standard fob, and I have MT, too. Maybe they are related...

I have entry and drive but I use the key to start the engine - I think about the old LeMans starts every time I use it...

I love the E&S on my 991- hop in, depress the clutch, fire her up and go. Even the parking break disengages by itself.

I don't think my parking brake disengages when I use the E and S. I have to do that all the time. How so with your car?

The E brake disengages when you give it some gas but it's pretty clunky feeling as opposed to releasing it manually.

You have to have your seatbelt on. As soon as you start to give it some gas it'll automatically disengage.

Using the key instead of the stub for turning on the engine also eliminates my one pet peeves: the frunk no longer opens automatically when washing the car. All in all its a nice feature but if I had to pay separately for the option I would probably skip it.
I hope this is not a stupid question but how easy is it to remove the stub & just insert the real key? I had no idea this was an option. My complaint is that I usually just put the key in the console cubby hole. On the first hard corner it falls out & gets stuck between the seat. It would be great to be able to have a spot to insert it!

I tried to twist stub to left for 15 seconds and remove but that didnt work. So I used the tool from the tool kit by left knee. Worked like a charm and only took 30 seconds
