"Must Have" Options
Interior in leather is the last thing you need if you are on a budget. In my view, performance options are the most essential and anything else is window dressing. The seats are leather in any configuration and the materials that are used for non-leather interiors are very durable and attractive.

For me, if you are on a tight budget, the last thing you need is to buy a Porsche.
For me, If I have to stretch to buy what I REALLY want, I would rather wait until I saved a bit more cash to buy what I want. Either that, or buy lightly used 2-3 year old car with low miles from private owner. Just my .02
Chiboy,

And you can add all the goodies (exhaust, suspension etc) down the road.
Your canvas awaits...

The important stuff is standard. Partial leather, PCM, most "luxury" features. I can tell you from experience that standard suspension works just fine. Definitely go look at that one.
Stay away from costly options, and do all of your desired customizations in the after market after you have driven a no option car for a while. It is fascinating how good the base car is with no options! Options are such a personal thing... Personally, I thought I needed PSE, PASM and PTV. But after 12,000 miles in the 991 C2 I have decided that my no performance option car is perfect for me as is. Take your time and don't fall victim to the marketing spin machine that makes you think you need/want something.
I bought a brand new 991 in December for less than $78k. Same price most pay for Boxster/Cayman S.
Negotiate!
