I just picked up a 2012 991 C2S with 10k miles and CPO for $86K ($115K sticker)... platinum silver (discontinued color which probably lowered value), PDK, PASM, 20 in Carrera S wheels, premium plus, 14 way heated/cooled seats, navigation, Bose. I don't think you will have to wait long to hit the $70K on a 991 C2.

I traded in a 2011 Cayman S CPO. I like buying CPO cars... good warranty, thoroughly inspected, and biggest depreciation hit already taken.

Wow, that's a nice deal. It's too much car ($) for me, but the kind of sweet deal I am looking for. I see you also are in Chicagoland. Can I ask where you got it? You can PM me if you prefer.

Search on the Porsche website http://www.porsche.com/usa/approvedu...arlocator/911/

There are a few 991s under $80 with reasonable miles.

I picked up a new 991 manual in December for $78k. Nice luxury options, no performance options --- sticker was $87k. When I hear about people spending that kind of money on Cayman/Boxster it makes me question their judgement. Historically I owned 4 Boxsters and two generations of Cayman S's. Those mid engine cars are $50-$60K cars at best. Porsche makes a killing on people optioning those cars up to $80-$90k+. I don't get the marketing spin machine behind all of the options when the base cars are just as great. After driving a well optioned CaymanS and my no option 991 it was a really easy decision.

It's not to no avail. I am considering every point of view. And I may very well price out a base 911. BTW, I'm pretty sure the two 2013 911s (one a 4S cab!) for $56k are frauds.

I'm with hudy too. Forget the mid engined spin. Test drive both. Make up your own mind. It's quickly clear even a lightly optioned base carrera is in a different league than a tricked out Cayman s.
Last time round I fell for the mid engined blabla and regretted it the entire ownership. Now I chose wiser and couldn't be happier.

I'm not sure that the choice of a new Cayman S vs. a used 991 is *that* clear, but I can appreciate it is when the question is posed in a 991 forum. lol

I don't disagree with the general logic of driving both and deciding. My problem is: the more I read the more confused I get.
