I ran my CS pretty hard in low to mid 80's for 25 min sessions in Sport + and saw the temps peak around 256 then quickly drop down to 240's. Never saw 275+. But I will check out additional cooling options anyway just in case.

Going to Elkhart will help because of the long straights but if I were you I would PM the guy who has the same setup as you do, who didn't have problems. Does your car not run a center 3rd rad? Is that not standard on the 991 PDK?

The cars are designed to get to 200 deg quickly and live there but something doesn't add up if another person with the same setup ran workout issue.

Tight twisty tracks are the worst for cooling. RA will be better but you need to do some homework.

Had it checked out at my shop Wed, no issues w/ radiators or coolant. I believe only the x51 pack comes w/ third radiator on 991s? I will see how it goes this weekend at RA, weather in low 80s so hopefully I don't run into issues.

As followup, had two days at RA (did 5 sessions Sat and 2 Sun before I drove back) and ran it in sport+ the entire time, w/ oil temps up to 275 but no higher, no CE or limp mode, thank goodness. Was still disconcerting seeing the temps get up that high. Ambient temps were in the mid 80s both days.

Agreed, just not sure what to do at this point. No other faults were triggered after the limp mode issues my prior track day last monday. If I were going to keep the car I'd definitely do the third radiator, but it still doesn't explain why I'm running hot...

For Canada and the US only the X51 has 3rd rad. Some mid east countries can get them as an option on cars that aren't X51. Not sure about the rest of the world.

275 on the oil usually equates to 230-240 on the water. The cars are designed to stay at 200 when the 997.1s and 997.2s would run 190 on the water. The new car has a lot of thermal dynamics in the warmup.

If I were you I would get a center 3rd radiator and be done with it.

Did you get the change over valve recall done yet?
Maybe you've got a bad one and it caused the overheat.

No, I haven't, it's a '13, haven't checked build date but thought those campaigns for 2012. I will take it into dealer and check, thanks for the heads up!

Called dealer and had him check VIN, only service campaign it needs is the PDK update. Hmmm...guess I'll be rolling the dice and hoping for cool weather for the remaining track days this season.

Ajag, does the new 991 have dynamic front air intakes? Louvers that open and close? I don't remember. Maybe they are not operating properly or fully????

no dynamic inlets.

Im beginning to wonder if this 275 F temp is by design.
While, not official, one of my techs seems to think so.

BTW My 997.2 would hit 250 when HOT.
