I've had a PTT, 997.1Targa and 997.1 C4S.

1. Sell the spyder

2. Keep the Panamera - you will need the room that the 991 cannot give provide.

3. Get a 991: dealers choice as to which. In Dallas, the top down time is limited due to heat

Since you mention your desire to go to the track, Sell the Spyder and get the gt3. You have room for the kids in the pan. You don't have room for them in the boxster, so the gt3 represents no net loss of seats. You crave a sports car, you already have a cruiser in the pan. Unless you crave a comfy street ride in your sports car, at which point the 991 makes more sense, but a cab may keep you off the track.

This. Since you are limited to 2, one practical and one toy, get the toy you really want. Either the GT3 or a 991 ordered exactly as you'd like it. You can easily recreate the "uniqueness" feeling of the Spyder with the 991 options list. Convertibles are over-rated anyway....

Convertibles are great for the right set of circumstances. In my case I live and work in the country, so a convertible is perfect for me. On the other hand if I spent most of my time in the city where the air quality isn't that great, I would buy a coupe. I can't think of any driving experience on public roads that can beat the pleasure of driving down beautiful country roads with the top down.

Since 4 seats are important to you, it looks like the Spyder has to go.

Have you considered a 50th Anniversary 991 ? Widebody, powerkit, 4 seats and something special..

Call me crazy, but I am not a Panamera fan, especially at that price point. And I love Boxster Spyders.

I'd get out of the Panny and the wife's car, get her a Mercedes or a BMW, or gasp, a Cayenne (:/), and I'd keep the Spyder and get the 991 I wanted.

I agree that Spyders are instant classics, and I'd want to keep it. Pannies are just "meh" to me, and they're a dime a dozen anyway.

No offense to Panny lovers. :/

Panameras are a dime a dozen? Where do you live? I saw one the other day, first besides mine I have seen in months. At sales volume of 5000-6000 per year in US they are still a rare car.

The Panamera is a leased car. If you buy out of the lease, you're going to lose money. Doesn't matter what equity you have in it, you'll lose some of it even if you're left with $10K (of your own money). Be patient and let the lease expire when it is scheduled to.

You love the Spyder and it is a definite keeper. It is not going to lose much value over the next few years until your Panamera lease is up. Keeping it is the most financially sensible thing to do. That, plus you love the car, understandably so.

Unless you have some kind of terminal illness and only a limited amount of time left to own and enjoy nice cars, my suggestion is to be patient and when your lease is up, get a more reasonably priced family hauler like an Acura MDX and then buy yourself a 991. Two years isn't that long and waiting for it will make you appreciate it even more.

Keep the Panamera, sell the Spyder, get a 991 Targa 4S with Powerkit. That's what I'd do if I had the funds and were in your situation. The Targa 4S will give you a coupe body, classic styling, the 4S will be wide body, and the Powerkit will narrow the gap to the GT3 without compromising utility.

Is there really going to be a targa? I'm thinking now C2s with glass roof and power kit. Sanibel you are logical but that is no fun. No MDX for me; wife drives SUV. If only I had room for Spyder. But it is probably what has to go.

Thought I would add a couple of pics to help people decide. As of now I am leaning towards unloading the Spyder to make room for either a 991 C2S or GT3.

Here in Boca Raton where I live and Santa Monica, where I also live part time, Panameras are a dime a dozen. Only difference is in and around Boca you see more plain Panameras and In Santa Monica (So. Caif) you see more GTS, Turbo and Turbo S cars. I would estimate on any given day I see atleast 2 dozen or more Panameras.

We don't need help to decide... the votes are in....sell the Spyder, keep the Panny and buy a C2S or GT3.

I would definetely sell that spyder and get the 991.
