Default Mounting position for EZpass toll transponder

I'm struggling with a minor detail, but I just thought some folks here would like to provide some input. I need to attach my EZ pass toll transponder to the inside top of the windshield. However, the whole mirror unit in the 991 takes up a lot of room at the top center, so I figure I have two options: 1) Off to the passenger side, up top, or 2) in the middle, but lower to clear below the mirror unit.

Option 1 bothers me because I like things to generally appear symmetrical. Option 2 bothers me because I think it will be too low and block some of my view just below the rearview mirror.

Anyone have any thoughts or want to share what they have done?

Can you opt for a passive RFID label instead of a bulky transponder? The label is only about 1.5" square and can be mounted most anywhere. Can't be transferred or removed but they only cost $5. We have them in FL as the alternate to the battery-powered SunPass and it works just fine for me and is almost invisible.

Here's what I did, #1 painted it black. You can see it in this picture, driver can't see it and its hard to tell it's there.

Painting it black is a fantastic idea! Mine is a 2.5" white square - quite conspicuous.

Yep. This is how you make it "dissappear". Any cheap old can of flat black paint. Pull off the sticker, keep in a plastic bag in glove box. Wipe off box with denatured alcohol. 2 light coats of paint (24 hours apart). Done.

It's on the windshield on the passenger side and behind the rear view mirror. I can't see it while driving

Painted mine black as well and mounted it on the right side of the mirror. Asymmetrical yes, but not too noticeable. No RFID sticker option here that I know of.
