The leather on the 991 seems to be terribly prone to this.
I saw this discussed at length elsewhere, and I fear for the longevity of our interiors..

Perhaps a reason to go LEATHERETTE interior !! I had leatherette on a custom ordered Boxster S that i kept for 9 years and the interior looked as new when I sold it as it did when it was new AND with ZERO maintenance !!

Feeling better about my standard non-leather interior :-)

Well the MBA has an edge like a butcher's knife, not sure if it's really the fault of the leather.

I agree! As I said, it barely touched it! I never expected anything other than a very small dent that would disappear within seconds... never expected a CUT! I was shocked!

That's my only complaint about the MacBook Air.

That sucks. Sorry that happened to your car. I've got the 11" MB Air and its edges are pretty sharp. I've also got the full leather interior but so far it's been pretty resilient.

There are services, at least here in Vancouver that can do essentially what are invisible mends on leather tears, rips etc. The dealers use them all the time to correct this type of thing. Surely, if you live in/near a medium or big city either a dealer or top body shop can point you in the right direction. You'll never see the repair if done correctly.

+++1. I have been told repeatedly in the past that leather does not wear as well as the synthetic materials and that was years ago. Now the synthetics are better than ever. Also, it use to be that the plastics looked like plastic. Now these parts are so attractive that it is hard to justify spending $$$$ on leather when it could go towards other upgrades that make the car perform better. If they could only give the smell of leather without the hassle of having leather.
