My 2010 997.2S was Meteor Grey and it never looked dirty, but it was blah colour. I now have a 991S cab bas black. For the 15 min that it's impeccable there is no nicer car. Is it worth the work? To me it is since it's a hobby car driven 2 to 3k Kms a year and spends most of its' time under a cover in my garage. If it was my DD I would have to burn it.

My diamond white MB is no picnic to keep clean but it is liveable. Silver is the lazy man's car. They always look clean. Proof, my wife drives one and it never gets washed except when it goes in for service.

Got my first p-car. White with a duck tail. Not for everyone, but I sure like how it looks.

Is that the black option on the headlights?

Unhappy

I have Basalt Black. 7 months old. Driven 4-5 time per week and washed about once per week. I use a soft water connection, lots of suds, gasoline powered blower, followed by had drying with waffle type towels.

I put it out in the sun yesterday and looked closely for swirl marks and saw none. (I could however still see a bit remaining damage from a bird dropping even after repeated use of polish).

I also don't think it looks particularly dirty between washes. It probably is, but at least for me, it looks just fine.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind a lighter color but mostly because I have the sport design front bumper and it really doesn't show much with the black color.

Basalt black metallic is better than the flat black at hiding dirt and swirl marks. Having said that, I still prefer the flat black for its depth of shine and clarity. I agree that the lighter colors allow one to see the details of the car better.
