Update... We've moved, and I'm now 6 weeks away from taking delivery of C4S. I visited the dealer when we arrived to drool a little bit, waiting is not easy. But kudos to the dealer for giving me a choice of Cayenne or Boxster free loaner until my car arrives.

So I'm now commuting in a Cayenne. It's alright (beats the run-of-the-mill rental I would otherwise have gotten), but it's no 911...

You made the wise choice: at these prices there shouldn't be any compromises. I made that mistake in December and it cost me 20K to rectify in June.
