Need your help
Hi,
As I wrote earlier, I ordered a C4S. The post is here. The car is scheduled to be built July 12th with US delivery Sep 2-3rd (or there abouts). The back story is that I am relocating, so I already accepted that I'll have to live with a rental for a few months.
Now, the dealer I bought it from gives me a call. They've got a, in his words, "similarly spec'ed C4S" coming in. The car will be in his hands in 1-2 weeks, which means that it will be ready for when I arrive. The options of the new car are:
Agate Grey (same)
Black leather interior (same)
PDCC w/SPASM (same)
PSE (same)
PDK (same)
Steering wheel heating
Rear windshield wiper
Adaptive Cruise
Park assist front/rear (same)
Sport chrono (same)
Electric sunroof (I ordered glass, but I might even prefer this in hindsight)
Power steering plus
Multi-function steering wheel (I ordered sport-design, I don't like the buttons)
Online services
Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (same)
Burmester (I ordered Bose)
Premium Pkg Plus (same)
Door entry guards in carbon
Wheels painted Platinum
Carbon Pkg
Additional leather pkg dashboard
Ornamental Porsche Crest (same)
I'm guessing the steering wheel can be swapped, which makes that a non-issue. The Burmester is nice, I don't mind that option. On stuff that is missing, I ordered the LED head lights and power folding mirrors. Not sure how I feel about losing those.
The ordered car will be MY2014, this one is MY2013. The dealer offered my 2.5% off MSRP on the new car. Might be more to be had there, I didn't push him on that yet since I don't know if I'll take it.
So the big question is... Do I suck it up and wait the 2 months for my car to arrive, or would I be quite happy to jump in this one on arrival instead?

Waiting an extra 2 months to have the exact build you want, as well as having it being a newer model year is worth the wait to me.
The glass roof is really great. I love mine.

Thanks, that seems to be the essence of the replies. Deep down I knew you guys would say that, I probably needed the injection of sanity. It's a little hard when you are faced with the option of having the car sooner :-)
Personally, MY2013 and the rear wiper are the biggest show stoppers.

a few things:
1. 2.5%off '13 is not enough
2. the rear wiper may be useful depending on your location
3. swapping MF steering wheel for the SD wheel is NOT plug and play. An additional stalk is required in order the control the screen functions. Also MF is has toggles and SD has paddles. Big difference IMO.
good luck!

You might be happy with the MF wheel if you replace the buttons with the TechArt aftermarket paddles. That would be less work than swapping out the entire wheel/stalk assembly. Or, for that matter, you might decide you're fine with the buttons. They are not really as odious as some have suggested.
The existing headlights are already superb. No one has ever had a bad word to say about them, AFAIK. The biggest advantage offered by the LEDs is probably longevity. It's nice to know you will most likely never need to replace another headlight bulb, but I'm not convinced it's worth the steep price premium. (I say this without having been in a car with the new LED headlights, so maybe they really are worth the ducats.)
If it were me, I doubt I'd be able to resist taking the '13 off the dealer's hands. Getting just the right steering wheel is not worth a lost summer of driving.

Question is - lease or purchase/finance. If lease, do it now, nothing to lose. If purchase/finance, wait. As for discount, on the MY 2013, you should be able to do better than 2.5% (more like 5-8%), unless you're referring to the 2014 (then around 3-4%). Good luck!

I decided to wait. I told the dealer I wanted ~12% off MSRP if I was to take this one off his hands, considering the options were a little different and it is a MY2013. I'm buying it, it is not a lease. His response was that they only have a 10% markup on the car, so he could not even offer me 10%. At that point I was pretty certain that waiting is the way to go.
So that's what I ended up doing. It will SUCK not having it when we move, but I'm sure all is forgotten once September comes along.
Thanks all for your input!

I am surprised. Last year, around December. A dealer I visited offered $99,000 on a MSRP $125,000 brand new C2S. That is a 20.8% discount. But it was also their last 2012 though.....
