Default A Day After PSE Install...

I took advantage of the standard exhaust recall and upgraded to PSE. Porsche paid for the labor and I got PSE for about $2,800.
Impressions after 1 day of use:
  • It does feel like a different car. Not faster, just different. More exciting? Yes. PSE should be standard equipment on the 991.
  • Before PSE: With the top down (it is a Cab), I could hardly hear the exhaust. In fact, the standard exhaust sounded louder (inside) with the top up (thanks to the sound symposer).
  • After PSE: With top down you can clearly hear the exhaust and the gurgles, etc. while inside. With the top up, you do not hear it as much. A complete reverse from before PSE.
  • Releasing accelerator at around 5k rpm makes car do all kind of sweet noises, BUT it can be too loud under normal driving when in traffic.
  • MT transmission only: Shifting gears (say going from 1st to 2nd) around 4-5k rpm, when one depresses the clutch, you can clearly hear the pops & gurgles (after all, you have to release the accelerator -see above). It sort of makes you want to take your sweet time before releasing the clutch.

Ah, and don't tell your wife what you spent on that "toy". "You mean all it does is noise?!" Next thing you know, she will want to spend equal or more on her stuff.

I found that PSE increases grins across the entire spectrum, which is more important than torque 99% of the time.

PSE is good stuff. I've dubbed it "Shake-n-bake." Now i only listen to the Brumester while on the freeway, otherwise its Shake-n-bake ENGAGED.

I've often wondered how many of your spouses like or see value in PSE. My wife thinks too loud when engaged, but she does understand that most 991's on the lot had PSE optioned.

My wife loves the PSE ! She told me to get it, no discussion ! She says the car is not complete without the PSE ! I agree with her.

If you get a cab you will like it twice as much!
(Actually, you might even lose weight! That's because, you might try to park farther away to hear the sound a bit longer) :-)

I haven't heard about an exhaust recall but have a 20k oil change coming up soon and will ask about it. In any case, I just drove a Jag Fs and the exhaust was out of this world! Made my 991s sound like a Honda. Now I need to spend $2,800 for PSE on a leased car just to make it sound better! Crazy?
