Default 991 S Corner Weights

During a lull in the action at the Carrera of the Americas PCA race this weekend where I was volunteering to work tech, I got a chance to get the car on the scales.

This is with me in the car (~220 lbs) and nearly a full tank of gas. F/R distribution is 40.2%F / 59.7% R.

Overall, I'm very pleased the car is very decently balanced with me in the car.

That's not bad:

3,433 - 220 (you) - 123 (fuel) = 3,090ish

3,090 pounds/400 HP = 7.7 pounds/HP

3,433 pounds/400 HP = 8.6 #/HP

When they state curb weight it includes all fluids and fuel. It should have come in closer to 3075 lbs.

My 996tt is suppose to be 3394 lbs. Granted I took rear seats out but other then that it is stock. When on the scales with a full tank but no driver.

FL: 679 FR: 592
RL: 1035 RR: 1079

Total 3385 +190 (me) = 3575 lbs

Had I had the rear seats back in it. I'd expect it to come very close to its stated curb weight above.

That's kind of personal, don't you think?

3120 lb is the "official" weight for an S with PDK, which my car has. Assuming that's a dry weight...

3433 - me= 3213 lbs - fuel + oil of about 93 lbs= 3120. Seems about right to me.

And, hey, I'm a tall, big guy, not fat!

Well, okay, I need to drop about 10.

I gotta think fuel and oil weights more than 93 pounds. I figured 19 gallons at 6.5 pounds/gallon. 8-9 quarts of oil has got to weight about 20 pounds.

Fuel tank capacity is 16.9 gallons. I was somewhere between 3/4 & 7/8.

The always quote curb weight not dry weight. Even being a PDK is it still too heavy.

Dunno. That's what the scales said. May be some of the options are adding additional weight.

What did you eat before the scales? How much air did you have in the tires?

LED head lights should be lighter weight. Only thing that looks like it could add weight would be the Bose with larger or more speakers. The optional sun roof would add weight but doesn't look like you added it. Porsche must be getting their curb weight by adding PCCB's and any optional light weight part or delete option.
